Edgbaston 1967. I think they played together only once!!

BTW, check out this article on the spin quartet:

Not really, kingcool1234. My first instinct was the same as Sahir's but when you negated his guess, I read the enclosed article that I had indexed away, and then searched 2 series on CricInfo in a timeframe I thought suitable. Good question, and an answer I did not know till I researched it  ;D

kingcool1234, if you have another question please shoot away. I have nothing at the top of my head. If you don't, I'll post one late tonight EST.

It took him the longest number of ODIs to finally score his first run.  He finally did it in his 16th ODI.  To be entirely fair to him though, he rarely got to bat in all those games.

1.Right
2. Are you sure ? The answer I was looking for was that this was the first match where someone was actually noballed for bowling 2 bouncers in an over, but not sure if it was the first match after the law came into effect.

Incidentally, know who the bowler was ?

Wild guess-- Merv Hughes?  Seems like something he'd do.  If not him, Srinath was into digging them in short at the time.

M.Prabhakar! This was the first time that law was actively applied, no-balling a bowler - dunno if there were test matches before that - gotta dig!

2 bouncers per over are still allowed in Test cricket.  Before, there was no restriction on the number of bouncers in an over.  The famed West Indian fast bowlers are widely credited for requiring a change in the rule.  That is when you know you are great-- when rules have to be changed to allow others to better compete.

Over to you Sahir, with due applause for getting it all right. It is indeed strange that both involved the same bowler. I wonder if the bat making company was also the same! Yeah, the multiple hit wickets is also very rare.

When reading up on this a few days back, I came across some other spooky detail. Len Hutton was the first batsman to be given out obstructing the field, when he prevented the wicket keeper Russell Endean from catching the ball. Russell Endean was himself the first batsman to be given out handled the ball. One weird act deserved another?

I am sorry for jumping the gun, please forgive but can't resist posting this one.

WHo was the first player to be given out Obstructing the Field in ODIs?

No-- Amarnath was out obstructing the field for kicking the ball away back in 1989 against SL
