Dhorasoo doesn't mind getting bored

AGENCIES

HAMELN:
Vikash Dhorasoo spends most of his time waiting for a chance to play in France's midfield. He's pretty happy to hang around for scraps.

"Boredom is part of my life," Dhorasoo, who was born in Mauritius to Indian parents, said on Friday.

"I love staying all alone in my room and feeling bored. I lie down on my bed and dream of scoring in the World Cup final," he says.

A surprise choice in France's squad, Dhorasoo's form dipped so much this season that he couldn't even make the first team at Paris Saint-Germain.

The season before, he barely got a game at AC Milan either. "I want to play, but if I don't it doesn't annoy me," Dhorasoo said.

Dhorasoo has played 16 times for France, many as substitute. His last game, against Mexico saw him jeered and booed before he had even stepped onto the field at Stade de France.

"It hurt me at the time," he said. "But now I don't care if people don't like me." Dhorasoo's biggest fan, luckily for him, appears to be France coach Raymond Domenech. Dom-enech's decision to prefer Dhorasoo over Johan Micoud raised a few eyebrows.

"The fact I'm here displeases a lot of people," Dhorasoo said.

"But what is important to me is how my teammates view me. And I know they are behind me."
