Habibul Bashar interview excerpts
« on: April 01, 2007, 07:37:43 PM »
From ABP (mar 31), interviewer Gautam B.
Translation mine. I have left out many questions and answers.

Q. Are you nervous about the Aus match?
A: I do not know if they are nervous. The BD team is not.

Q. This is the BD captain speaking. Imagine yourself as an expert writing a match preview for ABP.
A. Even there I would say that it may seem like a one-sided match but we have defeated them once. We have defeated NZ. Anything can happen in a ODI. I will not be surprised if there is an upset.

Q. What did you think of India under GC in this WC?
A. To tell you the truth I have never seen India this disorganized. It seemed that nobody knew their roles. Dhoni did not know what he had to do. RD did not know even though he was the captain. Everyone seemed confused.

Perhaps I should not talk about these things. These are all such great players. But what I honestly feel is that the batting order was changed so often that everyone probably lost their roles. Nobody could find a wa to get it done.

Q. Chappell's idea was to surprise each opponent. And to increase flexibility by playing people in multiple positions.
A. Does it work that way? Tomorrow Hayden will open and Ponting will play at 3. Does Australia change their order everyday?

Q. How much will you give GC on a scale of ten?
A. O my gosh! Not much.

Q. Still how much? 2?3?
A. I will not give you a number. But the team is very disorganized after he came. There is too much experimentation.

Not even a local club is gonna hire GuruJi after he gets booted. But i am sure he will make enough money writting his books. I am sure he can write a few by just publishing all his emails and SMSs.

This I find very annoying. In fact my suspicion is that GC may not have started with this in mind but in the last few months he kind of gave up on the team and was just an onlooker gathering masala for his book

Lets promise that when the book comes out one of us gets a free photocopy and then post all the juicy excerpts here instead of contributing even a single paisa to the revenues of the book ::vvangry::
