yeah sometimes flat, hard pitches give that sheen. I have seen it in some pitches in the WI. Gives you the feeling like you're batting on concrete.
Any ideas guys, on reasons for this?

want to see real name dropping on the subject of the sharjah pitch?  ;D ;D ;D

here goes:

"The conditions were pretty much standard for Sharjah. A pitch that looks white and shiny, the kind that, as Harsha Bhogle told me, you can see your own reflection. Hard, even bounce, perfect for batting. "

guess whose article is that?

http://www.rediff.com/sports/dec/11a.htm

obviously the said writer has bad eye-sight.

alistar campbell:

"They have very good facilities there and the ground is in magnificent condition. The square has full grass cover, but the pitches are shaved until they are basically rolled mud. After a lot of rolling it gets a shine to it, so the pitches are pretty unique. Two pitches were prepared for this tournament, one markedly better for batting than the other"

but still have you ever seen mud that reflects? it's a weird phenomenon.

Anybody ever played on cement pitches? It is awesome if you are a batsman or a good medium fast bowler. Of course, it isnt great facing somebody with some serious pace. And I hate bowling leg spin on it.
