Thanks a lot Mock..for your encouraging words!
Last night, I almost cried a bucket! :(...Boo Hoo!...!
I felt exactly, what SG might have felt in Zimbabwe...when GC gave him his 'frank opinion'!...Boo hoo... :(

Thanx a lot Dex......for the patient rejoinders. :)

I hope GC gets his act right today! ;)

Blwe,
In that sense, coaches never win or lose games, players do.  The coach is simplay responsible for the final record.  Therefore, you take the good with the bad, and weigh everything up in the end.  Chappell does get some credit for the improved ODI performance, just as gets some blame for the Test performance.  You cannot simply credit someone with the team losses, without crediting them for the victories.

Sahir........GC has chopped off our limbs........I mean metaphorically.........by removing SG and some other match-winners.
SG has been the most successful Indian captain, one of the greatest ODI players, a fine batsman and a great team-player.
GC promised us 'heaven' with the condition that we forget SG ( not in as many words, but in spirit......part of his collateral damage).
OK, now we stand amputed with one hand and one leg..........yet we do not see satisfactory results.........infact, barring the last one year, India never had it so bad.
How long can you expect an amputed patient to remain patient with a doctor, unless he delivers miraculous results?
Had I been in place of that patient, I would have kicked the doctor in his mouth with my remaining leg, even at the risk of being air-borne for sometime! :)
You promise me heaven.......and I would allow you to chop off my head rather gingerly!
....But you fail to deliver that......and you are in for a hard time!.......My ghost will haunt you! :D

Anyway, lets concentrate on the game in hand..and hope India wins!
All the best!

Blwe,
I think that is very overdramatic, much like our media.  I don't think Chappell has done any such thing-- it's simply that every single move he makes is under this tremendous media glare and criticized.  This is very similar to Sourav Ganguly's situation-- everything he does is also heavily scrutinized and blown way out of proportion.  It really is time to move on from that saga-- especially if both Ganguly and Chappell are saying they have, regardless of whether people believe it or not.  And to say the India team has never been so bad, except for the past year before Chappell's stint is ridiculous.  We have had some terrible teams in India delivering some horrendous performances in the past.  Under Chappell, our record is pretty damn good-- the overall record.  However, I still maintain-- it is too early to judge.  However, you seem willing to judge it based on a loss in one Test alone.  Other than that Test, things have been going pretty well.  And it is important to note that he took over a team that was doing poorly for a year or so.  I think it is grossly unfair to crucify Chappell or even judge his record this early, based on perceptions often created by the media.  Just like it is unfair to judge Ganguly based on perceptions perpetuated by the media.  Chappell has come all the way to India to do a job.  He came here because he wanted to-- he did not have to.  I don't see why he would deliberately try to amputate his own team, thereby amputating himself.  Because, after all, he will be judged in the end by the team performances.  Couldn't it be possible that he is trying to do what he thinks is best for Indian cricket from his coaching perspective?  That he is doing what he believes and what his instincts are telling him.  In that manner, he is very similar to Ganguly.  Just as Ganguly and Wright were entrusted with that power and responsibility to deliver the goods based on their instincts and beliefs, so should Dravid and Chappell.  I'm being very honest when I say that I am actually seeing the Indian team constantly improving, primarily because young players are developing at a very rapid rate, especially Yuvraj, Dhoni, Pathan, and RP Singh.  However, as I said earlier we cannot base our opinion on such a short period of time-- we have to at least let one season come to an end.  We will be able to make a better assessment once the team returns from the West Indies.

Sahir, absolutely perfect and logical. However, logic and reason are totally wasted here...nothing matters when people have already passed the judgement, Chappel is bad and the team is doing terribly because of him...whatever Chappell does, whether the team is actually wiining more than losing, doesnt matter. Chappell is bad and the team is doing badly...

I'm glad you've seen the light. But befoe you decide to do that, perhaps you should take a look at your own blind hatred for Ganguly. Of course, you will respond with something like you don't dislike Ganguly and are quite rational. Sahir, for most part, hasn't been speaking out against either of the men, and can claim the situation to be overdramatic, but you, I beg to differ!

Dexy pal, since you claim to know what I think( you have already decided that I have "blind hatred"for Ganguli and even what my response is going to be....) , there is no point in dragging this further. If you care to look at posts in the past, you will know what I really think about Ganguli. I neither have the time nor the inclination to go into it again..

And I have seen the light quite some time ago...I was just telling Sahir about it. I am suire he knows it too but he thinks it is worthwhile ( he is a lawyer in the making , young and has a lot of patience)  to explain his pont of view. I dont.. anyway good luck to you

Following is what I had mentioned on Dec. 14 on the other blog

Sahir, great collection!! A million thanks. Worma I watched the tribute to Tendulkar on the day he completed his 35th. Had a lump in my throat watching the 15-16 year old kid with a squeky voice saying he bowls medium pace and then adds "in short spells only" . All the more special for a Mumbaikar like me who has stopped at Azad Maidan and wathced Cricket forgetting what I had set out to do. In all the arguments on Ganguly, we keep forgetting the immense pleasure people like him , Tendlya, Dravid, Sehwag etc. have given us. Ganguly has done a lot of stupid things, however I still want him to succeed and bow out in style when people are still asking why, and not like a few days ago when everyone was saying why not..

More power to Indian Cricket and long live the players...all of them Vishy, Gavaskar to Sri Santh, RP Singh and every one in between

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Going by your standards, of course, the above would still qualify äs "blind hatred"for Ganguli and being irrational etc...

Sahir,

All I can say is very well put- reflects the spirit of wht I had started in the thread but presented a million times better than I did.
