Cape Town, January 7:
After the 2-1 Test series defeat to South Africa, more embarrassment seems to be in store for India as Cricket South Africa is planning to send a bill claiming recovery for the damages done by the tourists during celebrations of the Wanderers win in the dressing room.

Gauteng Cricket Association (GCA), the host body, is moving their parent body CSA to seek compensation from the Board of Control for Cricket in India for damage done by the players in the dressing room while celebrating their first Test win.

As champagne was sprayed and cakes were thrown around with gay abandon, the visitors' dressing room at the Wanderers bore little resemblance to the tidy place that had been handed over to the team for the first Test from December 15-19.

The "most damaged" part of the dressing room was the ceiling and the carpet that had "permanent stains". Gauteng Board first tried to get things in order, but after the dry-cleaners and chemical experts threw their hands up in desperation they moved the CSA.

The Indian dressing room was a sight to behold after the team had secured their first win in South Africa by defeating the home side by 123 runs.

As celebrations grew wilder and became uncontrollable, coach Greg Chappell and media manager Rajan Nair were drenched by the champagne and wine poured on them.

Most overjoyed of the lot was Virender Sehwag, whose celebrations knew no bounds, even as Sachin Tendulkar had cautioned that they might not again be welcomed in the dressing room for the mess they were causing to the place.

It was not given any serious thought when Tendulkar did not hold himself back and Sehwag chirped, "who knows when next we come to the Wanderers and if ever we would win here again."

Chappell and captain Rahul Dravid too had later mentioned how they wished the boys learnt to "drink and enjoy champagne and wine rather than waste it."

In case, the Indian board receives a bill claiming the loss of property in the dressing room, it is to be seen whether the BCCI perceives it only as an extension of the win and gladly foots the bill or asks the players to cough up for the damage.

Shewag seems to not care about anything.  This is plain stupid.

Most importantly, we helped Smith find his form - who else other than Indians can do that?

We did not win a series or anything. We won ONE SINGLE test after a 0-5 ODI whipping!
Celebrate, but this is ridiculous type of celebration. As usual, Indian team goes overboard with all things.

BCCI should take the money from the players' pocket and provide it to SA board. (If they know which players were more "involved" - dock them appropriately).

Let the boys celebrate!

We have money to spare. Money is the least of Indian cricket's problem.

I think the solution to this is rather simple. Pay the damages requested from the contractual salary paid to the players; insert a clause in the contract that liability for damages created by the players on facilities will fall completely on the players going forward, so there are no surprises. The situation will take care of itself in the future.

I am fairly sure if India had won the 3rd test, everyone including me would have jumped on SA for being sore losers and hounding the Indian team for weak reasons. Since India lost in embarassing fashion, the reverse has happened and they will be soundly castigated for celebrating prematurely and following with an inept show.

I think we (collectively) have got the team we deserve! The coach is an altogether different matter  ;D

I still think the entire batting lineup should be thrown in the bay of bengal (some in the arabian sea).
