Agarkar in MCA mess

On day one of the Ranji Trophy tie against Rajasthan, Mumbai seamer Ajit Agarkar was sporting a black band in protest. There were murmurs that he was annoyed with the Mumbai Cricket Association.

The reason for his protest was known yesterday when MCA vice-president Ravi Sawant said, “Agarkar had gone to the MCA’s Bandra Kurla ground for practice. There he started to bowl on the centre wicket, which was being prepared for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. When the groundsman stopped him, he got into an argument with him. The person in charge informed the MCA and we issued a  complaint letter to him.”

Agarkar, talking to newpersons yesterday said, “I wanted to make a point and I just did that.”

MCA joint secretary Lalchand Rajput initially expressed his ignorance about the incident but later agreed that a letter had been issued to Agarkar. “There is no need to blow the issue out of proportions,” he said.

He should have tied the black band round his head to indicate that he wasn't using his brains. Even if he was justified in bowling on that ground, the significance of that symbolism promises to transcend time.

What a moron ?  He has always thought of himself as some sort of hero.  He should have been fined and dropped from the Ranji side for a few games
