Holy cow .. what a finish to NZ vs SL ODI
« on: December 31, 2006, 05:51:53 AM »
End of over 50 (4 runs) - New Zealand 228/9 (RR: 4.56)

MJ Mason    4* (6b 1x4)      ST Jayasuriya    5-0-28-0
JEC Franklin    45* (46b 3x4)      WPUJC Vaas    10-0-46-1

49.6 Jayasuriya to Mason, FOUR, MASON HAS DONE IT he takes a step down and lofts it straight back over Jayasuriya's head for four, New Zealand have won by one wicket
They have to run for anything now.
49.5 Jayasuriya to Mason, no run, defended to mid-on, no run, unbelieveable stuff
49.4 Jayasuriya to Mason, no run, high full toss, Mason swings and misses, pressure mounting
49.3 Jayasuriya to Mason, no run, pushed to short fine leg, three left
49.2 Jayasuriya to Mason, no run, defended to cover
49.1 Jayasuriya to Mason, no run, full toss, defended back to the bowler
End of over 49 (6 runs) - New Zealand 224/9 (1 run required from 6 balls, RR: 4.57, RRR: 1.00)
JEC Franklin    45* (46b 3x4)      WPUJC Vaas    10-0-46-1
MJ Mason    0* (0b)      SL Malinga    10-0-53-1
Jayasuriya to bowl the last over, Mason on strike, New Zealand need one run, Sri Lanka need one wicket. Everyone is in the circle

The 4th ball was a rank full toss and should have gone over any of the fielders in the 30 yard circle.
Jayasurya was hurrying through the overs and it surprised me that however inexperienced the Kiwi tail/batsmen were, they didn't try to slow it down.

There was a rank full toss in the Vaas over prior to this too andguess what, it got the wicket. What was funnier was that Vaas tied the scores with a wide down the legside ;D
A comedy of errors!
