Clyde Walcott would probably have a heart attack to see his name mentioned above George Headley. And Peter May? From which direction is he better than Sunny/Lara/Sachin?

I heard somewhere that this is based on points accumulated through some kind of ranking system. Cricinfo reported (a single line somewhere) that Yousuf made it to the ICC top ranked (all time ) players' list. So, this isnt as big a deal as people (Pak people) make it out to be.

From the direction ICC is looking at him. Which is usually slanted as they look through their ass, where their head is burried most of the times....

Reading the article, it seems like the rating and ranking will keep changing. So, another 2-3 100s by Punter in the Ashes will probably make him topple Don  :D ;D :D

Hayden, Yousouf, May...did a Pakistani, Australian, and English relative of the three serve on the committee?

True. I just have to place the Don on top, Sobers somewhere in the middle and develop any criteria whatsoever to justify whoever fills up the other 8 places.

BTW, Mohd. Yusuf averages 33 in Australia, 34 in India, 18.33 in SA, 21.25 in SL. Of course that is offset by 69.75 in West Indies (what West Indies?), 65.08 versus England (as far as rankings are concerned, this is key), 69 plus in NZ (Not against Bond though; Daryl Tuffey, of 66 wickets in 22 tests, is the best he faced), 276 in Bangladesh, and 58.14 in Zim.

I think this is the formerly known as PWC rankings. This list shows the highest peak ratings, not a mean career rating.

I have a good deal of respect for the PWC ratings. Unfortunately even this ranking system gets screwed in this age of flat tracks/weak attacks. I think any ranking system will fail when we compare across eras. However this is a good rating to compare players within an era.

I have no faith in a list of all time great batsmen which does not have Afridi in it.
