That's a classic Gouravk question.  ;D
May be because what happened to the Poms. I think that's what he's referring to.

Cern,
First of all, let me agree with you that IMO, SG didn't delay the declaration.
It served more than just grinding the Aussies to dust. It was Steve Waugh's farewell test and the least we could have done was to deny him a series victory. So we took the victory option away from him.
Secondly, even though Brett Lee was coming back from injury, he was supposed to be their trump card who would blow us away. By giving him the dubious distinction of conceding 200+ in a single innings, we made sure that a point was well made.

What was different though from that Indian team and this Pommie apology of a team is that our batting was firing on all cylinders. The Aussies had no McG and Warnie. The pitch would have been good to bat on even on day 7. In contrast, there was uneven bounce, typical of an Adelaide pitch yesterday. After Hitler, only Warne has made the Poms lose sleep to this level. McG, however much an aging bowler is still a force to reckon with.

So, IMO, comparison of these matches is like comparing apples to oranges.

The sad part is that we could have won that test had Bucknor or Parthiv Patel kept their eyes open.

Keep hoping. Do make sure you don't bruise yourself too much when you finally fall (which should be just a test away). Yummy Perth is waiting for you Poms. If the Poms win the series or even retain the Ashes, I'll definitely buy you as many drinks as you want. What the hell, I'll buy SGUSA a whole vineyard.

Absolutely 100% right. This is what cost us the test, not Ganguly's strategy nor anything else. At least the chubby faced guy received his comeuppance, was shoved aside and will learn his lessons. Yet the more dangerous blind fool called Bucknor continues to rule the roost.

The WACA is no longer a fast pitch by the way.

While the umpiring has been terrific in the Ashes so far, the irony is that Bucknor started the rot on the fifth day by giving Strauss.

for goodness sake, we are not only using others dismal performances to prop up SG, we are also using other teams poor performances to prop up SG's captaincy records. SG did be ashamed of such attempts. He was a fine captain, no need for these attempts.

If I am not wrong, there did be threads in future declaring the following things off limits

1. Let there be no to talk henceforth  of "slow bowling" tactics by the beloved dada, after all inzy, ponting etc. etc. too did the same

2. Let there be no to talk henceforth  of "slump in form" of beloved dada, after all inzy, ponting etc. etc. too lost form

3. Let there be no to talk henceforth  of "lack of fitness"  of beloved dada, after all inzy, ponting etc. etc. too got injured and they also did a misfileding on so and so ball on so and so date.

4. Let there be no to talk henceforth  of "slow bowling" tactics by the beloved dada, after all inzy, ponting etc. etc. too did the same

5. Let there be no to talk henceforth  of "shirt waving" by dada, after all SRK & Salman too wave their shirts in so and so movie.

Just can't stop smiling looking at the language "Let there be no to talk henceforth  "

Take notice everyone, let there be no talk henceforth of Dada. period

I think this is the only workable solution on this DG. He is indeed (in Ranjit Fernando style) beyond criticism.

oh this DG the great equalizer. people go into a hole only to appear when the going gets better and ask people to stop talking. may be you can simply leave this Dg instead of asking people to not talk.

What kind of argument is that...Just because someone goes off for some time, means that they are being opportunistic , is it? Find better reasons..

There are enough and more people who do that...who do the so-called "hiding" (your words) and come back and post.....

Why don't you say the same thing when a Sahir or a Mock or a TYC hibernate for long periods of time and come back and post?

I do not intend to decry your decree  :) but "no talk henceforth about my leaving/return" when i left" seems to be incomplete ...it should read  "no talk henceforth about my leaving/return" when i leave / return"

So all Welcome mails to be expunged from the records of this DG  ;)

Ravi, I see your eagerness to jump into this, but going off for sometime or coming back to post is fine. But, you cannot go into hibernation and come back when SG is doing good and ask members to shut up. I am sure if you are objective you will see my point. if you don't see my point, since you seem to agree with Fever's previous post, I will have to ask you and fever to SHUT UP.
