Pathan Dares Ganguly and selectors
« on: November 30, 2006, 12:01:06 AM »
With his improved performance in todays ODI both with bat and ball, Pathan has created a headache for the selectors. It is widely rumoued that Pathan was going to be on the plane back to India after tomorrow's selection meeting but by scoring 47 no and bowling a decent spell.

Now, Ganguly would have been selected as the 6th batsman. Pathan, if selected, would play as the 5th bowler/6th batsman (no way can they consider him one of the top 4 bowlers).

So looks like pathan's performance may have hurt SG' chances of being in the 11 for T1. Ofcourse he is being considered as an allrounder :)

Right, a once promising your bowler who has seen his batting improve but bowling dip beyond measure, is now to take basically a batsman's berth in the tests! That too, against a company of fast bowlers who increasingly seem habituated to skittling us out for hundred or thereabouts, in one afternoon! Never mind that we should play 6 specialist batsmen against these folks (not 5 plus an allrounder). Never mind that he still averages in the mid 20s in both forms of the game. It is quite in the same spirit of crushing two people's (Mongia and Raina) confidence by playing a wicketkeeper batsman (once again a mid twenties fc average) in their stead.

CP, your fantasies know no bounds. You are ready to offer Pathan as the best antidote to India's present batting woes in the hope of keeping SG (or whichever specialist bastman) out! I do not know if SG will be picked tommorow, but I am concerned about your SG obsession. It looks quite frightful to me. BTW, we have come a full circle haven't we? SG went from being specialist bat to pseudo allrounder (courtesy Kiran More). Now Pathan is going from specialist bowler to batting allrounder (courtesy you). More pawar to you!
