« on: September 21, 2006, 04:07:56 PM »
Hopefully all will be present for the big game. After a long time we are not playing minnows like Pak, Eng, SL etc. Luck be with our boys!
I am bringing more booze later in the evening - do post your preferences  ;D
weather conditions will be posted soon

Man-- they really need to have reserve days.  It boggles my mind how when there is no cricket scheduled for the next day, it cannot be kept as a reserve day.  You would almost always get a result over 2 days (provided continuation) and the D/L would also come into play less.  BTW, if we do expect rain, particularly when it gets dark, does this affect our strategy as far as batting or bowling first?  Possibly even team compostion?

Absolutely nothing about the organization of this tournament has gone right. From its very existence which I very much question if it was really needed, to the insistence on scheduling day night games just for the sake of money even though everyone knows it rains at night to questionable pitches and lack of reserve days. It is indeed one big farce.

Not only this tournament- even the one before this in SL. How does it make sense ot keep 15-16 eager for WC players in locker rooms looking at raindrops. All experimentations are useless if you can't implement them on the field and BCCI's scheduling almost seems to be aimed at shooting down the morale of the team vs boosting it.

Just imagine- if it rains today, we lose in WI- then sit in SL watching "bomb bomb" and then get knocked out here without even getting enuff match practice.

Bullcrap!

Yeah but at least SL is a traditional cricket venue and this was their cricket season. It is bad luck that rain ruined it.But here ?

I dont think anyone can play above their potential. If so, the new level is their maximum potential. It is like saying that we will give 110%. How is it possible to give 10% more than your full potential? Impossible!!

Well I believe in the 2003-04 tour of Australia we did play above our potential. Such magnificent consistency from Dravid Laxman Sehwag ! That was just AWESOME !

so that means they perform 0-99.9999...% of their potential all their life except for one time when they performed 100% of their potential; still not 110% of their potential

especially this notion of day night games is ridiculous. why, just to warm the new BCCI-installed lights? there is no one coming to watch the matches at the stadium anyway - might as well make it a day game!

Yes it is a matter of how you see the margins. I consider what they have done over a period of time as the true potential, and their peak as above potential. You on the other hand consider their peak as their true potential, while what they have done over a period as being under par. Again, perception, you see.

dd,
the night games are for the tv audiences in India I guess.

so agarkar's 100 at Lord's was within his potential  ;D ;D ;D ;D we should expect encores!
IMO, "playing above potential" or "giving 150%" is just talk. you obviously cannot do it, it is just meant to communicate that the person/team is putting everything theyve got into it (something they should be doing anyway)

This whole 110%-150% discussion reminds me of "how one of the government officials in B'lore told me last year that the hotels are running at 125% capacity".

How does one run a hotel above 100% capacity..let alone getting to the precise number 125% ;D ;D

Uhh...you folks will have to excuse me...bathroom break.

When intelligence matures and lodges securely in the mind it becomes wisdom. When wisdom is integrated with life and becomes action it becomes Bhakti. Knowledge when it becomes fully mature is Bhakti. To believe that Jnana and Bhakti, knowledge & devotion, are different from each other is ignorance.

What are you guys trying to do, get me fired for being insane ?

PS:Sahir: Use a good night vision filter! I'll setup the website and take care of the payment processing. Achu can make the posters. You can double as our legal rep. Ravi can do the accounting. Kslice the sales, any marketing gurus in the house ??
