Traicos is right. Not sure if Jackman played Test cricket for any side other than England.

Hmmm.............no answer to this one even in a week! :(

The answer is here-:

-Frank Woolley is the only Test player to have been dismissed by a player (less than) half his age, that is Lall Singh.
-The run out of Woolley by Lall Singh remains the only instance in test cricket history when the batsman had made his test debut before the man running him out was born.
-The 45 year old Woolley was runout by a brilliant throw to the wicketkeeper by Lall Singh. The only Test player to be runout by a Malaysian( Lall Singh is Malaysian born). :D

no the person i was thinking of was  Colin B.Fry. he wasnt a wisden cricketer nor was he a FA cup winner, although he has a runners up medal. CB Fry was a full dual england international (football and cricket). Dennis Compton did not represent England in an official international. (Pub quiz funda) ;D

PS nitpicking but the FA cup is not the league championship in England, it is the knockout tournament( the difference between the Shield and League in Kolkata)

Hope this isn't too obscure.

Javed Miandad for Pakistan (overall record holder)
Gordon Greenidge for West Indies
Andrew Jones for New Zealand
Mark Waugh for Australia
Yousuf Youhana  (Mohammed) for Pakistan
Boycott and Gooch for England
Of course Andy Flower for Zimbabwe
Jayasuriya for Sri Lanka
Jonty Rhodes for South Africa

What ODI record to these people hold for their respective countries, and who holds the record for India?

Hey...I haven't got the answer to my question yet! :D

Sorry, I too assumed it was CB Fry (as suggested by inoc) after a cursory glance. But after reading his response more carefully, I see it actually is not. Beyond Viv Richards and Fry, I don't know of great cricketers who also represented their country in soccer.

Lets wait on my question till the cat is out of the bag.  ;)

Each of them scored 6 consecutive half centuries in ODIs for their countries?
Rahul Dravid has the same record in Test matches, I believe...................does he have it in the ODIs too?
Here is a list.................http://stats.cricinfo.com/kitplycup/content/records/284103.html
But where is Andy Flower/ Jonty Rhodes/ Greenidge/ Boycott/ Gooch or Jayasurya?!!  ???
Why is Andrew Jones's name not there in the list. He too has scored 6 consecutive 50s for New Zealand in ODIs?

Close enough - each of them hold the record for consecutive half centuries in ODIs for their countries. The link you provided is for combined T20, test and ODI. My list was for ODIs alone. And not all of them have 6 consecutive half centuries. Some have 5. Javed is head and shoulders above everyone else with 9.

Dravid does not hold the ODI record for India. That part of the question is still open .....

yesaartee.

Yes indeed.

Sehwag made it back into the team because he was heard saying "Yes Aarti Yes Aarti Yes Aarti" all the time and the Mumbai lobby assumed he was invoking the "Yesaartee" mantra and fast tracked his return.

Blwe's question is still open ....

I used to spend a lot of days in the British Council Library's cricket section over summer...I know more about obscure Ashes matches (upon which entire books would be written) than most people I'm quite sure!

Name the cricketers............

who initiated the batting.............

first for their club.........

then for their state.................

......and again for their country.....................and they did it together.

No answer as yet?!!

Let me close this one!

Ramnath Parkar and Sunil Gavaskar opened the batting together for their club (Dadar Union), state (Bombay) and country (India).

I suspect the only other pair to do this were the Australians Colin McDonald and George Thoms, who opened together in the final Test against West Indies in Sydney in 1951-52. That same season they also opened for Melbourne's University club and for Victoria.

Something similar, on a slightly less grand scale, was achieved by England's Andrew Strauss and Sir Leonard Hutton's grandson Ben Hutton: they opened together for school (Radley College), university (Durham) and county (Middlesex).
