This is a good clean movie that got a ton of critical acclaim and I am yet to meet someone that did not enjoy it thoroughly.

Well,if you like older movies then "Sting" is one of my all-time favorites. If you go further back, then probably "Zorba the Greek" also a great, clean movie. If you want sheer fun then "Gods must be crazy" or its sequel with the UN Peacecorps in Africa (I do not know the English title. The German title is the equivalent of - Jungle must be crazy.)

If we're talking old movies, then a few that come to mind:
A Few Good Men
Shawshank Redemption
My Cousin Vinny
Catch Me If You Can
Murder in the First

I thought The Devil Wears Prada was funny - it has some elements of a chick flick but I enjoyed it. I would highly recommend Little Miss Sunshine. There is a gay character in it and I don't what your level of tolerance is. Depending on how you define "clean movie" this might be the one you want to see.

If you are planning to watch with kids around and want to see them rolling on the floor - Love Bug might be a choice

Or The Absent Minded Professor

Otherwise Roman Holiday could get you humming again if you are feeling low

Any of Golmal / Chupke Chupke / Apne Paraye / Bawarchi

All are in my list of immediate spirit lifters  :)

On a serious note, answering the questions:
1) Pushpak
2) Sadma
3) Nayakan -- for those like me who do not understand the language, try to see if you can find the NFDC release with English subtitles.
4) Khamosh (thats Khamosh, not Khamoshi) --one of the best detective movies made in Bollywood
5) Ek Dujje Ke Liye
6) Casablanca
7) Head Above Water
8) Brothers McMullen
9) Shes the one
10) Twice Upon a Yesterday
11) Day of the Jackal
12) Raging Bull
13) Remains of the Day
14) A Perfect World
15) No Way out
16) The Importance of Being Earnest
17) Enemy at the Gates
18) Any movie from the Pink Panther Series with Peter Sellers (avoid any with the son of the Pink Panther)
19) Life is  beautiful

I think V for Vendetta is worth watching. I liked it, although it is kind of over the top because it is based on a graphic novel. But if I had to recommend a movie it has to be Little Miss Sunshine.

Another movie that I really liked was The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada. This one moves at a slower pace but it stars Tommy Lee Jones and there is an excellent performance by Barry Pepper.

Wow !! thanks guys...That will keep me going for a few weekends...I hope to find the DVD / VCDs of these movies. Going to the movie theatre is now a luxury that we plan for an occassion or there is a movie that is worth watching only on the big screen. Kids and their studies take priority for a working couple and with the kind of pathetic roads and trafiic in blore, it is better to stay put at home  :'(

will leave this thread open for a day or two and then the mods can take over
