The Kafkaesque Times

August 27, 2006

Steve Bucknor – repected, bespectacled and geriatric umpire – told Kafkaesque Times that he plans to write a novel based on his colleague and friend, Darrell Hair. Bucknor said, he wants to introduce, the sometimes frizzy Hair, to the world in his piece called “The Day of The Bad Hair”.

“It will be classic – written in my own style. I portray Darrell Hair as a bad ass-assin. Bad assassin, I mean…he is bad. Bad is good. So he targets the evil muthafukkas of the east like S. Tendulkar, R. Dravid and I. Hag….rather, I. Haq.”

“Hair is very earthy and natural. I respect people who have stood up for Hair; these days it is fashionable to challenge tradition and go without Hair. I know that the young generation today is a little confused. But this will pass. The ICC knows as well as anybody else that Hair is an important part of our lives and of cricket.”

Bucknor also commented on the increasing dislike of Bush in several parts of the world. “Bush tickles me… really does tickle me”, he giggled. “All this talk about ‘No More Bush’, I don’t see how we could do it without Bush.” Other interesting adjectives that he used to describe Bush included lush, luxurious and fragrant in complete contrast to protestors who calimed that Hair was abominable waste of time and resources and a real pain when you are sweaty and trying to score.

As we finished up, Bucknor said, "This rebellion against Hair and Bush...it's all part of the same disease, really. We can fight it together."
