You mean Day 2 :)

Its interesting. All eyes are on Ganguly. This is a make or break game for him. A 70+ score will make his career and anything less (along with a Yuvraj score of 70+) would break him.

If he scores a 100 here, then Calcutta would burn again (for Ganguly to be included in the ODI team). I may join them if SG scores a 100 :)

You know, we might be worrying too much, after all our best batsmen, Dhoni and Pathan, are yet to come!

We would be lucky to get to 100 today. You all know what I really expect out of Ganguly (NOte: Difference between expect and hope). Pathan and Dhoni havent yet ever batted on such a track agains tsuch an opposition. Enough said about the rest of the tail.

Allowing Akmal to score all those runs was where the game turned and I doubt there is much that can be done.

Our hope here was for Dravid to get stuck and Sachin to find his touch.Neither hapenned so we would have wasted one of the best starts ever in a test match.

So much for a successful tour to Pakistan :)

Shoaib Akhtar to Ganguly, FOUR, short of a length and outside the
off stump, enough width on that for Ganguly to rock back and cut
superbly through cover-point for a boundary! That is a positive
        stroke!

19.6 Mohammad Asif to Ganguly, FOUR, short of a good length and outside
the off, Ganguly opens the face of the bat and runs the ball down
to the third-man fence! Another boundary to Ganguly!

20.5 Shoaib Akhtar to Yuvraj Singh, bye: FOUR, bvouncer banged in! That
is extreme pace and climbs steeply on Yuvraj who somehow manages
to get out of the way, Akmal jumps up in the air but cannot reach
the ball! That is a brute of a ball!

22.4 Shoaib Akhtar to Ganguly, one run, fast yorker speared in on the
stumps, Ganguly watches that very, very carefully and digs it out
to the leg side. That is a quality response to a top delivery

23.1 Mohammad Asif to Ganguly, FOUR, fullish and outside the off stump,
Ganguly waits on the ball and cover drives at the last moment,
that is a Ganguly special and races away to the fence

24.3 Shoaib Akhtar to Yuvraj Singh, FOUR, full toss outside the off
stump, Yuvraj waits on the ball nicely and punches through cover.
The timing and placement are very good and the ball races away for
        four

42.4 Shoaib Akhtar to Kumble, OUT: short of a good length, on the
stumps, this one comes in with the arm, pitches and straightens
but most importantly does not rise, Kumble goes back and is
trapped in front of the stumps! Shoaib strikes!

So Ganguly blew it. Amazingly after looking so good and having played the toughest part .. he goes trying to play the pull shot.

So it comes down to 1 inning for his career. If he can pull out that gritty century... he is back.

Else bye bye Gangs. See you at your restaurant :)

And why should Yuvraj be there or SRT or Laxman ? What have they done when India were in deep Sh!t in this test and the test before that ?

sigh! Same discussion again.

SRT is GOD (and he did score a century just what 2 tests ago?)
VVS scored a 90 in the last game when India was in a bit of strife
Yuvraj is young and has scored as many if not more runs. Also is a brilliant fielder and has a lot of the so called "potential". He needs to continue to translate it into reality soon and consistently for that matter.

You dont always compare run to run. If you did then Gangs shoudl have been out of the Indian team a long time ago. He was in the team for a long time for his past heroics and his aggressive attitude that he brought to the field.

In anycase.. SG has the perfect platform to show what he can do. He has another inning. If he doesnt ... I guess the obituaries can be written. If he shows another ugly Pull like he did .. that would be pulling his India cap off. Cant be any simpler.
