How do you create a PDF document?

Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Std costs frikkin' $300 - can u believe it!

Does anyone know how a Word doc can be converted into pdf in an inexpensive but safe way?

Adobe allows upto 5 documents to be convereted for free

https://createpdf.abdobe.com

Else PDF4Free.com also has a converter that can be downloded but it is not a very reliable converter.

Install Open Office.

The Word equivalent there opens MS Word documents. And there is a one-click button built into the OO Word to convert the document into PDF. If you are on Linux than you do need not have to do anything because you would have OO, then again you would not be asking this question. :)

Ok, since the instructions are progressively more timeconsuming, let me add to the pile.

Install Latex and associated packages. Rewrite document in tex. Then print as pdf :D

Thx for the suggestions. Indeed some of these are more viable than shelling out $300.

C'mon.......buy an Adobe Acrobat 7......extremely useful software!
The best part is, it neatly reads out a .pdf file created in there. You need speakers though ( which are usually there anyway).
Very interesting new feature, although I wonder, what to do of it!

or if you have $50 to spend ..get Nuance PDFcreate. Allows you to "watermark" your PDFs...good for copyrighted/confidential material
