okay - so we are comparing the quality and not the variety. thanks. how does the south indian sweet badusha(sp?) compare to a donut? same concept, ain't it?

see that's the difference between a person who eats at kk and someone who eats at dunkin. krispy kreme doesn't really have that many varities and mock, dunkin donuts has around 2 dozen different varities of donuts. they also serve bagels although as the name suggests they are more famous for their donuts

french something which i dont eat because it's the only one in which they use egg

cmon, when i visit the US next, i need to know which donut i shd be eating! and i am looking to settle that right here with inputs from both sides. (KK-ians vs DD-ians). simple "i like KK, so it rocks" isn't very convincing.

The difference is in the basic "technology". Dunkin donuts are for the most part
"cake-ish" - relatively heavy and dense - whereas KK ones are croissant-like. Light and airy, flaky and very nice texture. I do not care much for fillings and toppings etc so I have no problems with the variey they have. I believe my local KK has more than a dozen, but certainly much less than 2 dozen varieties.

All donuts contain yeast and deep fried, so I am not sure how the KK recipe is different -- must be a closely guarded secret. There are other donut stores in North America, and most are closer to DD than KK.
