« on: July 06, 2006, 09:16:46 PM »
SG: not sure of the chicken, but I made 15000 intl runs.

Ganguly Fans (specially on this DG): Since our boy (SG) crossed the road so many years ago it doesnt really matter what he has done for the last few years. Just look at how good he looked the last time he took those couple of steps on the road against Pakistan. that was elegance. And look at the domestic "Pagdandi's" he has been crossing. What do you mean he took a long time crossing that Pagdandi? You Bengal hating, white subserviant Chappal!

and slowly but inexorably even a non partisan humorous thread begins its inevitable decline, all because some chickens didn't learn how to cross the road  ;D ;D

SG fans: so what if this chicken crossed the road once, SG crossed it 15000 times. Can a chicken which crossed road only once command a place in the WC Road Crossing event ahead of SG who crossed 15000 times? even though he was not able to cross the road in the last 3 yrs, how can we discount his 15000 crossings?

I believe i even coined a term for this process. The "SG Effect"!

SG Effect -> All threads irrespective of subject eventually find their way to some form of SG discussion.

Also

SG Effect Timeframe -> The minimum timeframe at which a given thread degenerates into SG based posts (pro or con). The longer a thread's SG Effect Timeframe is, the more resistant it is considered to be to the "SG Effect"

PS: This is also very closely related to the "Chappel Effect" (not to be confused with the "Chappel Show"!)

Like Murphy's Law - Whatever can be discussed, will include SG discussion.

No SG discussion here.
If u are tired of chicken, take a break and go to the turtle, and then be back to the chicken.

Remember SG is NOT a chicken, and hence no such posts in chicken thread here! :)

I wonder why it is NO NO only when we talk about SG. Below is a quote , post#56 on this thread. Why did we not get these "inevitable" slide comments? WHY? :)

here are a few more :

flute202020 : why should the chicken not cross? Would you have questioned it if it were an indian peacock?  Respect the right, value the opinion, no matter what genus, class or phylum the creature is. This is the new, progressive india where chickens may cross and ducks may bark and ruchir may poke fun at SG without any moderator intervention.

Adding to flute:
flute202020: Please remember, Swami Vivekananda has said that each soul is divine. However, Swamiji has also said that soft-brained people, weak-minded, chicken-hearted, cannot find the truth. One has to be free, and as broad as the sky. Help the chicken fly and broaden its heart.
[ps: I want to clarify - please do not confuse - no offense meant to anyone]

Greg Chappell: Then there are the borderline vegetarians. Some have told me, "I can eat eggs, because they are just like milk." But I answer, "An egg can produce a chicken, but milk cannot produce a cow." Letting the chicken cross the road will make u a better human being and its part of the process of becoming a better cricketer.

Greg Chappell:  It is not the walking or the running but the process of crossing that is important.

Flute,
Kindly refrain from using language which hurts other's sentiments.  [god]

PS: I also have the same question - why is the 'inevitable slide' not mentioned as long as GC is made part of the joke!?

Sir...you must understand...SG is not appropriate for dinner-time conversation.

The inevitable decline did not have anything to do with SG jokes. Scroll up and read the thread.

fineleg,

while i am happy that all the love, shove nonsense going on here is slowly ending and we are getting back into the serious business of brawls and name-calling , isn't there a difference between making fun of SG and making fun of "SG fans"?

Mock,
Perhaps CP can explain it better since it was his original post.
But IMO,
CP addressed the SG fans and made fun of SG - did he make fun of SG fans? Atleast thats what i thought.

i will leave that to your judgement and keep in mind the history of this DG and Sightscreen. i too can start posing questions like "fineleg, why do you jump in defending whenever there is a mild accusation against the "anti-SG" people and not when the accusations are thrown at the "pro-SG" people", can't i?

But what accusation has been made against SG fans here by CP?
Please mention what the accusation is. Anycase, once u mention that, I will wait for CP to comment on that, since I dont think a proxy answer from me would be any useful.

I'd like to stick to the chicken question :)

did i mention anything about CP? you brought him up. i was commenting on why some people may think the thread is deteriorating with a remark about the difference between making fun of SG and making fun of SG fans. you proceeded to defend CP, for some strange reason. there was more than one comment about "SG fans", if you notice.

also, the point of this thread was to exaggerate the individual idiosyncrasies/expressions, of course, all done in jest. to extend that to "SG fans", "pro-GC", "anti-RD" etc. kind of defeats the purpose, doesn't it?

This really is interesting. We are all game when we make direct fun of each other. Everything is taken by everyone in the right spirit. Honestly everyone did take it in the right spirit.

As soon as I use SG in one of the jokes people start getting offended.

SG na ho gaya Khuda ho gaya! Next Dex is going throw out a Fatwa in my name!

So just for that here is another one.

So the Roadies are hanging around the airport and in walks SG

SG: Hey I am having dinner with Pawar
CP: Would he serve Rasgullahs?
SG: Well you see I could be practicing crossing the road but instead I use crossing time to try to wine and dine and Rasguline my way back into the team. You know chances of me failing in cricket are high. I am a prince, wining and dining comes naturally to me!
JFK: But look at the numbers. they dont support your inclusion.
SG: 15000 is the only number that matters. I am God
Ganguly Fans <in Chorus>: 15000 thousand runs. SG is God

Soon Slogan Shouting starts

Dex: Gali Ggali main shor hai
Other Gangulians: GC, More chor hain
Dex: Jabtak Suraj Chand Rahega
Other Gangulians: Ganguly team main shamil rahega
Dex: Cow humari maata hai
Other Gangulians: Ganguly humara Daata hai
Other Gangulians:Aage Kuch nahin aata hai.
