Laxman + Dravid = Boring
« on: January 23, 2006, 06:06:32 AM »
Laxman -- SR 34
Dravid -- SR 44
Pakistan has 3 frontline bowlers. India had five. What the hell is going on? Are Indian bowlers that bad -- Pakistan clobbered everyone of them at will. Or are Laxman and Dravid just plain ol boring bats. The pitch appears to be the same. The kind of stuff that results in DGs having nothing to talk about and fans having nothing to celebrate about. In short -- this sucks.

I bet Ganguly would have scored faster.  :P

Pakstan were not chasing 600 runs - main difference.
The pressure takes its own dynamics and is uninvited.
IMHO they are doing a decent job - in fact very good job.
The first hour belongs to the bowler!

Being a little harsh guys-- Pakistan was batting first and pushing the run rate in order to give their bowlers the maximum time to bowl India out twice.  We, on the other hand, are playing to draw the game-- there is no realistic chance of a victory, and therefore, the batsmen are playing risk-free cricket.

Teddy,
Still they have basically two bowlers: Akthar and Kaneria...the others are just there to throw the ball.

Akthar - in terms of number of overs he can bowl in a day, he is not one full bowler.
However, his ability to take wickets vis-a-vis Indian bowlers (AA,IP,HS) he is surely as
good as 2.
Don't forget Afridi, Razzaq they are handy bowlers and chip in with a wicket or two.

And India has no motivation to play risky cricket on a flat pitch while chasing 600 runs.

as simple as that.

good job guys.

Don't worry about Lax... he will pick up I'm sure... and end up with a pretty decent sr

As for Dravid, isn't that his career sr? I mean when has he batted any quicker, easy situation or not? But then do we need him to hit out? I don't think so... he is the one person we can depend upon to deliver... let him do so at the rate he pleases...

I bet Ganguly would have scored faster.  :P

sorry I missed the line first up.

I agree, Ganguly would have scored 200 by now.
17 fours and 5 sixes.
This pitch is made to order for Gangs and Aktar would have been a lunch meat
for our ex-captain.

Yeah, exactly. And he would have either dismissed the Akhtar short pitched deliveries to the fence or got in line beautifully and patted them down, like he has been doing all these years.

Given the situation, both played exactly as what needed to put India in with a fair position.
