Sydney Test 2012 - India vs Australia
« on: January 01, 2012, 09:27:32 AM »
Indian team selection.. i would drop Kohli and bring Sharma in. Drop Ishant and play Ojha (irrespective of pitch).

As I said before, Kohli needs to go to domestics and get big scores before playing tests, home or away. Sharma should get the nod ahead of him.

Ishant is a waste.. at least, Ojha will get you 3-4 wickets per innings.

Also, we need to get a better slip fielder than RD. Dhoni needs to get serious about his captaincy and batting. If we lose this series, Dhoni needs to be sacked - period....and we need to overhaul the team by possibly showing a few seniors the exit

I agree. Kohli is very good but needs patience in Test batting. Either Ojha or Aaron would be fine though Ishant did not bowl badly in the first Test despite not taking many wickets. The problem is the whole tail starting from Dhoni can not bat with the exception of Ashwin. It is time that all of them - starting from Dhoni - get some batting practice and coaching.

I am not so sure of Gambhir either. We may have to use Rahane or someone else. Since his marriage he has not been the same batsman.

WN you must be kidding about I'shant. Despite the fact that he did not get wickets he really bowled well. And you r not serious to go in with just fast bowlers in a test outside the sub continent. Specially when one of those is the brittle zak? What if he got injured?

I'shant has actually done ok even with the bat. I think you and rams have been overly enamored with bojha. He has been average and I have more faith in ash-no-win than bojha.

I would not make too many changes unless dropping dhoni was an option.

India wins the toss and batting first.
Both teams unchanged. We might not get another chance in this series to win a test.

GG goes in the first over to a good ball.

I wanted to say that we should get close to 500 in the 1st innings and put pressure on the Aussies and GG falls as I was about to type that.

Interesting, how they have put the fielders all around the bat. This is how one should attack.

I'm impressed by Clarke's captaincy.

Tendulkar has made 100s in his first innings of the year in each of the last four years.

Moronic batting by Sehwag. Doing his reputation serious damage on this tour.

Not surprising. He was not getting anything on the middle of the bat. Really looking out of depth.

SRT who has been composed till now, seems to try something dangerous. Fortunately this time, did not lose a wicket. Will be a big test or opportunity for Kohli. Whether he can do something here or he fails again will be pretty important.

Kohli looking the second best batsman so far.

How well has Aus bowled in this innings so far  :notworthy:
Gambhir and Dravid got out to balls that should have been defended. Dravid seriously misjudging the length. Where is that famous forward defense ?  :-\

There is no doubt about what openers do for you. Think pre-Sehwag India to Sehwag times, and what happened when Akash
Chopra was there, or during Gambhir's dream run.

hmm..wasn't Chopra dropped in the very next series for not scoring fast enough ? may be time , we keep one team for playing only overseas and another only in Indian subcontinent.

Yes, their bowling has been great, and the field setting has been attacking.

Gambhir is looking more and more like his pre-dream run self. He is low on confidence, and is seems to be playing pre-determined "safe" shots. He played a really strange looking shot today.

Well, if we had players who could score fast enough and keep the wickets intact, we have them in both Indian and overseas conditions. If not, we should think of having some different players.

He always had iffy technique, but he used to guts it out. It seems instant coffee cricket has ruined his mindset.

Yes, though he did polish his technique to some extent. That shine seems to have worn off again. Th

Now, what is important is that the batsmen come back from Lunch and get to concentrata straightaway.
