Kim Sharma talks about her colourful off screen life and her forthcoming role as a
fisherwoman in ‘Tom, Dick and Harry’
She’s done a string of interviews, but Kim Sharma doesn’t show any signs of fatigue. Perhaps it’s the excitement of playing a fisherwoman in Deepak Tijori’s laugh riot
‘Tom Dick and Harry’ that has her chatting for so long.
Strangely, we see more of her at parties than in movies. “What rubbish. I have been working round the clock,” she protests.
Anybody could vouch from its name that ‘Tom, Dick and Harry’ is a male centric film. So what does it offer Kim? “A chance to play a great character, show off my histrionics and also my comedy skills, look hot and do everything that a commercial Hindi film requires you to do. Also, it has been a long time since somebody played a fisherwoman in a Hindi film.
She adds, “If it is male centric film that doesn’t mean there is nothing for me to do. Most films are male centric in Hindi cinema. So it’s fine.”
The role even had her preparing for it. “I met a fisherwoman for 15 minutes. I figured out her basket technique. I figured out how exactly I should go about it. Other than that, I did nothing and already can speak good Marathi.”
‘Tom, Dick and Harry’ happens to be a vibrant, colourful film. Off screen, is Kim as colourful? “I am a fun, spontaneous, adventurous person and am up for a lot of things. I could be termed colourful in the right sense of the term.”
So does ‘good friend’ cricketer Yuvraj Singh think she is a good actor?
“I don’t know - you will have to ask him. I am not a spokesperson for him.” Kim has certainly learnt when to talk and when to hold back her words.
She says she’s learnt several lessons from the industry. “I have evolved as person and as an actor. Hopefully, it will reflect on the screen,” she signs off.
On Kim’s platter...
