Dhoni Road in Bangalore
« on: April 06, 2011, 08:47:54 AM »
Since there is no players from Karnataka in the Team they have decided to give land to everyone.Interesting comments.

Bangalore: City Soon to have an 'M S Dhoni Road'

Bangalore, Apr 5 (9-00 am): When states over states, governments over governments started announcing bonanzas for the Indian cricket team for winning the World Cup, state chief minister Yeddyurappa did not want to be left behind.

He made an announcement on Sunday that all members of the team, including coach Gary Kirsten, would be given a 50X80 ft housing site each, all in the same place.

He also said after consultations with captain Dhoni, a day would be fixed and a felicitation function to be held in the banquet hall of Vidhana Soudha, where the land allotment certificates would be handed over.

Following this, Brihat Bengaluru Maha Palike mayor S K Nataraj has gone a step to prove that he is no less a cricket idolator. He has announced that a prominet road in the city would be named after Mahendra Singh Dhoni very soon and a decision in this regard would be taken next week.

The options for road-naming are:

1. 80' link road to Basavanagudi
2. Banashankari to Silk Board road
3. 45th Cross Road at Jayanagar 9th Block

Earlier, there was no practice of naming streets and localities after living persons. One of the few exeptions made is of Anil Kumble circle at the entrance of Mahatma *hi Road.

Perhaps another was Residency Road which was renamed Field Marshal K M Cariappa Road during his lifetime.

This proves the BJP is worse than the Congress!

What right does this fool have to effectively allocate public money to these already uber-wealthy players? Naming a road, a masjid, a college, an airport, a dog or a toilet seat after anyone is fine - it does not cost much money beyond painting the signs / printing new stationery (well, excluding the dog). In India, there is no recognition that it is public money wasted in these uncalled for gifts doled out in the midst of national hysteria, the allocators competing in a pissing contest between corrupt idiots.

And after winning their hearts, Dhoni can now win over the minds of millions if he rejects these gifts made by government authorities squandering public money.

Completly agree.
Why does Ktka govt. feel obliged to give something? I wish no other govt follows same trend.

What about naming the roads after great freedom fighters and brave military people who died for our country?

After all the land scams they have been embroiled in, they surely have excess of the same on hand. Besides, land comes cheap -- you just drive the poor people owning and living on them away using the state machinery and police, create laws to justify such a move and hey presto... you are a zamindar!

Well, all this has landed the chief minister in trouble now. First of all he had no land to offer and them he changed it to cash and now he will face a case (among many others) for his generosity.

These guys already make huge money - it's not like the players in the 70's.  Stupid guy - he thought that all of Indian fans would love him for that.
