Sourav Ganguly to move to Kochi IPL team: Reports
« on: January 21, 2011, 05:56:34 AM »
New Delhi:  The game may well not be over yet for Sourav Ganguly as far as the Indian Premier League (IPL) is concerned. The former Indian skipper may reportedly be signed on by the Kochi IPL team after being ignored by all the ten teams during the auction. The Kochi team which will be making its IPL debut, according to reports, is now keen to take the Prince of Kolkata on board.

The only catch though is that the rest of the nine franchises have to agree to Kochi signing Ganguly on as the IPL rules clearly state that the capped players put up for auction can only be bought through an open bidding process.

Ganguly, along with Mumbai captain Wasim Jaffer and Punjab pacer VRV Singh were the only three Indian players to remain unsold at the end of the two-day auction.

IPL – Kochi Clarifies Not Interested in Sourav Ganguly
The Kochi franchise of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday denied it was in talks with former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly for a place in the team in the fourth season of the tournament. Reacting to media reports that the Kochi IPL was trying to sign up Ganguly, Mehul Shah, a majority stake owner in the franchise, told Headlines Today that there was no such move.

Media reports had said that the Kochi IPL had contacted other teams to get a no-objection certificate (NOC) from them to rope in Ganguly, as players unsold in the auction could not be picked without their consent.

The former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain had remained unsold at the IPL 4 auctions held earlier this month. The 38-year-old batsman had played for KKR in the first three seasons.

Thank God, for a while i thought i might have to go through the embarrassing experience of watching Eden crowd supporting Kochi instead of KKR!

My friends...
Its time you guys stop following SG's cricket.
He's done.. I have no idea why he(SG) still wants to be in scheme of things.
The message is/was loud and clear.
He took a  retirement on a high. Something he should scherish for the rest of his life.
No point in in any franchise taking him.. toooo much of baggage. cricketvoice.com the best example of it.
Any smart franchise would take guys who are currently in Indian team or promising to be one. Not the guys who are past thir sell by date with only motivatition to play as "IPL" . An adviser role would be the best suited as of date.
Sorry to burst the bubble folks.. But time to get real.
Please ask yourselves this Q?  If you are a franchise owner, Would you  take SG at this jucncture of his carrer. I don't  have to give you the answer.
