Sanjay Manjrekar's Solo Indipop Album
« on: April 20, 2006, 04:22:42 AM »
Sanjay Manjrekar released an Indipop album a while ago, called 'Rest Day'. He sang some of his favorite songs as well as some Indian cricketers' favorites.
Anyone know where I can find some songs from this online?

Some songs and info about them:

Sachin's fav - Mein Zindagi Ka Saath

Azhar - O Bahure Taal Mile Nadi Ke Jal Se (apparently he came across this song by mistake when going through a lean patch and it helped him through)

Azhar: "aa whenver boyz ar at party, we tell sanju ki gaana gaa de, he is talented singer"

Srinath - Ruk Jaa Na Nahin (Srinath talks about the hard work in life and how this song inspired him not to stop.) Finally, an excellent Javelin.

Kumble - Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas

Kumble says something like: "I really like kishore's voice ... it is so melodious ... i feel like listening to it again and again"

Ganguly's favorite would be: "Chal ree sajnee, ab kya roey....."

Zaheer's: "Akeyla, hoon main. Is duniya mein. Koi saathi hai, to mera sayaa....."

Dalmiya's: "Ye duniya agar rooth jaye to kya hai....." (From the Guru Dutt movie)

Dhoni's: "Saari ki saari ye duniya, meri jeb mein...." (Famous Rishi Kapoor song)

Yuvraj to Raina: "Tum itna kyon, muskuraa rahe ho..."

Yup. I had that when I was back in India. Had it on audio tape.

Sachin says that he really likes the song but hastily goes on to add ... " ... Lekin main hamesha apni cricket ki fikr karta aa raha hoon aur bilkul karta rahoonga" ... less people like fineleg should pounce upon him.

Azhar's favorite that helped him get over a bad patch was actually "Kisi Raah mein kisi mod par ... " but Manjrekar could not sing it for some reason, so he sang the other one.

Manjrekar's own favorite is Raat Kali Ek Khwab Mein Aayee.

Srinath starts off in extremely Srinathesque style and weird Hindi ... "Mera favorite singer hain Kishore Kumar ... He is the best singer. He is past but still he is the best ... " Very informative.

Before singing Kumble's favorite ... "Kabhi Alvida na kehna" ... manjrekar actually says ... "Casette ki first innings ab khatam hone ja rahi hain aur is waqt hum anil kumble jinhone khud apni bowling se bahut se innings khatam ki hain unko chalte chalte yeh gaana itnya kyon pasand hain"

And Kumble goes ..."Lyrics is very good and it is melodious and i like good lyrics and slow numbers ..."

Actually IMO that song fits Kumble ... he is the person whom people wrote off so many times he keeps coming back stronger and stronger ... it really makes sense ... "Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna"

I think gourav is still resting after that long post of his. KBan, can you provide some guidance on how to handle the hangover from length posts?
