and something else i found out about china, it seems that there are 1.16 men to every female. the cia reports this number as 1.06 to every 1 female. while the cia stats are from 2005, the one that usa today reports are from 2002. makes me wonder what did china do in the last 3 years that their sex ratio has gone up.

Seemed like an April fool joke to me. Surely such stuff will be banned, even in China. Unless the government is iself into it  :-X

It is always possible to stage the picture rather than resort to Photoshop tricks, no? Check this picture out - the guy in it, Zhu Yu is a notorious prankster.

About that unbalanced sex ratio: I read somewhere that letting this go uncontrolled will result in a society where women will end up being so scarce that a rowdy society will be created. It is not a great scenario in any case. I have always maintained that the ratio should be 2 women to one man ;)
AFAIK, I think the same rules of not disclosing the sex of the baby (that we have in India) are enforced in China too.
