What a poor game by BRC! :(.......................and where are those guys hiding.....those who were gloating at KKR not reaching the semis.

Try what you may ...SG will remain.............and you cannot lump him with the pedestrians like RD and VVS! :D

He is the best even in a team with Gayle, McCullum, Hussey...etc.

blwe blwe blwe.

let me explain this to you really slowly. S G  D I D   N O T    M A K E    T H E    S E M I   F I N A L S    T H R E E     Y E A R S   I N    A    R O W!!!

thats how crappy he is. Dravid just got there last year AND this year!!! and is a much better player than Gang-crap-uly!

Kieron Pollard was the difference betwen the 2 teams yesterday . No wonder there was a mad rush to buy him . But I am happy that our so called test team did wonderfully well over the last 2 seasons and we have so many positives going forward. For the next match I would leave out Kallis , Taylor , PK and Pandey and Play White , Smith , Akhil and Appanna.

Ps:Heard somewhere that Ganguly is already making contacts with the Pune Franchaisee to sitch over next season . What a politician Ganguly is , got more then 3 million dollars from KKR , ruined them completely for 3 years and now planning to make more money with another franchaisee and ruin them as  well . Ofcourse he has nothing to worry as long as he can fool his supporters.

I was right in my assesment . One Gangulian already making excuses for Ganguly . So you agree that Ganguly has no Loyalty towards his own city . Then why did you guys cry foul wgen GC told us Ganguly wanted to play for financial reasons . If Ganguly does join Pune , he will prove GC right.

RCB..thy name is inconsistency!

http://www.deccanherald.com/content/65309/challengers-pay-their-inconsistency.html

Challengers pay for their inconsistency
Mumbai, Apr 22, DH News Service:

A grand dream whose genesis can be traced to an exceptional start to the tournament lay in tatters at the DY Patil stadium on Wednesday night when Royal Challengers Bangalore crashed out at the semifinal stage of IPL III.

Heartbreak A dejected Anil Kumble looks on as Mumbai Indians celebrate their semifinal win over Challengers. PTIA facet that has proved their undoing in the last three weeks – inconsistency – came back to badly haunt Anil Kumble’s outfit; seemingly in control against the Mumbai Indians for more than a third of the contest, the Challengers went off the boil at the most inopportune time to all but gift-wrap the last-four tie to their high-flying opponents.

Not often since the fifth match of their campaign, by which time they had stacked up four wins, have the Challengers found a synergy between their mighty batting and their more than passable bowling. Both suits have seldom fired in tandem. If the bowling has been spot on, the batting has disappointed despite the obvious embarrassment of riches. On the rare occasion when the batsmen have fired collectively, the bowling unit has shown a distinctive millionaire-profligacy.

Against a team as accomplished and in sync as the Indians, the Challengers had to be on top of their game for the entire length of the 40-over showdown, a point reiterated by Kumble on match-eve. The Challengers established a grip of sorts for the first 15 overs, when the Indians limped along to 107 for four. From then on, Sachin Tendulkar’s lads wrested the initiative with a mesmeric batting exhibition that effectively settled the issue.

As well as Saurabh Tiwary and the beefy Kieron Pollard played, though, the Challengers must shoulder the blame for a less than acceptable last-quarter bowling stint. Length balls, long-hops and inviting full tosses were the norm as the batsmen were allowed to do their bidding; variations in pace, the use of the slow bouncer and precision yorkers were conspicuous by their absence.

Poor execution
The plans might have been in place, but the execution was anything but impeccable. No team can afford to concede 77 runs in the last five overs of a knockout Twenty20 game and expect to bounce back. It was no surprise that the wheels came off the Challengers’ chase once they lost Robin Uthappa and Rahul Dravid to successive deliveries.

For all their batting wealth, the Challengers have been anything but regularly destructive with the willow. The last half of their campaign has been a disappointing, frustrating mix of unfulfilled promise and irreparable heartbreak. Jacques Kallis has been unrecognisable as the dominant force of the first five matches, while Ross Taylor was a pale shadow of the six-hitting, bowler-demoralising batterer on show during the Champions League.

It didn’t help that Virat Kohli and Manish Pandey too failed in their quest for meaningful contributions. Uthappa was left carrying the unenviable burden of finishing off things game after game, a task he approached with commitment and determination, but for one man to be expected to bail the team out repeatedly was a damning indictment of the collective inefficiency of a batting line-up that has been the envy of IPL III.

Uthappa’s power-packed batting and his unnoticed efficacy behind the stumps went some way towards redeeming his timidity during a modest run chase in last year’s final against the Deccan Chargers. The exciting right-hander was one of the few from the Challengers’ camp to come away with his reputation enhanced, not unlike phlegmatic medium-pacer R Vinay Kumar, seemingly innocuous but with a perfect understanding of his strengths and awareness of his weaknesses.

All isn’t lost for the Challengers yet. Third place in the overall standings and a slot in the Champions League still beckon.

That might come as minor consolation for a team that had eyed the highest honour, but it will still count for a lot more than finishing fourth.

Yep...bye bye BRC. Poor team selection, imo.

--
Bye RD, AK.. well played folks  and thanks for the memories
Yep.  No point in them along with SG and VVS being on a roster a year from now.  They gave it a try for 3 years and it is time to move on now.  Let others take over.  Nothing left for them to prove in high 30's and 40's.

I think before AK, SG, RD, or VVS, it is time to say goodbye to Gilly and Haydos - both have had disastrous IPL-3. Also, SG to a certain extent - even though he was KKR's best batter, he struggled to get balls out of the square even in his good innings. RD and VVS didn't play much. It just shows how difficult it is to just come and play for 40 days without playing for the remainder of the year. In that sense, what AK did this season was exceptional - RCB's best bowler and among top 15 bowlers in this year's IPL.

spinners can probably last a long time. i thought ganguly was batting exceptionally well toward the end of the competition. he started off looking very rusty but by the end he was back in pretty good form. he won't ever hit the ball like UUU, but he did entertain on more than one occasion

As I have kept saying right through, RCB's bowling is very weak. You cant expect your batsmen to bail you out each time ...especially if you come up against an attack like the MI.

What a match ..was watching it in a mall ...huge number of people cheering wildly, esp when Pollard was going ballistic. That PSYCHO is now well and truly adopted.

But the story of this IPL, so far, has been the confidence placed in Tiwary and Rayudu by SRT and the team management and how they have delivered more often than not.

Come on guys, just one more match to go. Lets go get the trophy.

I was talking about getting into form and performing. AK is older than the rest. He got into the groove quite fast.

I don't think so. If you actually watched his batting, it was invariably a few dot balls followed by a 4 or 6 or the other way round. Dad batting balls and not getting it even outside 30 yd circle was quite common during this season. And poor running between him and Gayle didn't help matters when they converted 3s to 2s and 2s to 1s easily.

jfk, how's that different from how he batted at his prime? he has lost a few strokes--granted.

In his prime, i.e., while playing with SRT as opener or #3, his running was faster (obvious expected slowdown with age - granted), used to dead bat fewer balls - was able to get it at least outside 30 yd circle. The latter was IMO more to do with not playing cricket actively now.

Btw this was another match where MI's batting clicked and won the match without a major contribution by SRT.
