GG has to cop the major share of the blame for not making the final 4 with such a strong team
Viru, TD were no shows for him.

What happened to Rams today? Although I am untterly dissapoited with Gilly's batting throughout the tournament, I think he has done a great job as a captain and keeper.

Must be busy with family..

I think they started playing like a team. VVS was dropped..and then Gibbs... and then Suman, Rohit, Mohnish + Harmeet all  contributed..

For that credit, AG!!

His team selection still is baffling though.. playing Marsh ahead of Smith and Harris, for example - doesnt make sense. I guess he is going with players with guts rather than paper credentials

May be he wanted to give a chance to the young Marsh after the successful innings of his brother in the other match.

He sees all these players in the nets and for a given game he selects a player based on what he sees and what in his view can contribute to the team better.  He has proved it.  Second straight SF entry and this time with 5 straight wins.  Cannot be an accident.  I think over the 3 IPL's he along with Warne has established themselves as the top two skippers of the IPL in the 3 years.

I was here for most part of the match.  Then came the 16th over I was frozen and a bunch of calls from India as the victory became ours.  Too many people and too much celebrations.

I can say Gilly is partying hard as we speak with his team and he is so happy and rightly so.

I heard he made comments multiple times to folks around him on how baffled he is at Indian selectors not taking Ojha to the 20-20 WC.  If Gilly has a choice to make in this DC team outside of Symmo the first guy he would take is Ojha even ahead of himself.

Dropping VVS, Gibbs, Vaas, Harris, Smith etc is not an issue at all.  If anything else these are the guys who are making it easy for Gilly by each of them playing the mentors role when not playing.  This is a good bunch of players playing for owners who treat the players real well and give them their space. It is not an accident a team that lost 5 straight and are dead pretty much pulled off 5 straight wins and advance to the SF's.  It takes a great team work and a lot of cooperation from great players like VVS, Vaas, Gibbs when they are dropped and told they are not playing.  So all these little things matter and what makes a team that goes to SF and beyond.

Also another analogy when Murali is dropped today and a few other games earlier by CSK he did not seem to take it personal. After Dhoni smashed IP for those winning runs Murali was the fatest to reach out for Dhoni and the happiest with the biggest smile.  It is all about wins folks.  It can heal a lot of things and make people forget if they are dropped or failed or whatever.

Dlee. Off u go to the game, please post a match report.

I won't be able to watch the game so ramji no taunting. And if your dhakkans are losing please do the decent thing and taunt yourself.
Adding insult to injury can I have my good friend CP reprimanded for this.  Kban hope you will read this post and impose the zero tolerence policy on addressing a team 'Dhakkan' and as such.  CP can use a couple of days of not posting when the SF's is going on. :)

DA MAN
He is incredible.  It is baffling he is not going to the WC.  Read my post above on what Gilly thinks about Ojha.

Ojha - purple cap - should be going to WC. Come on, Srikkanth.. wake up
Well the fans will have to pay for this when the team they root for does not make it far in the WC because of leaving the best 20-20 bowler in the country a man who gets you those big break throughs in the 8-16 over timeframe in big games.  Well somethings never makes sense.

Gilly made it a difficult road in the middle by some poor team selection - dropping Vaas when he was contributing so much is just stupdidity, which he fixed only in the last game. If not for Vaas, even yesterday, DC would have been out. And then leaving Suman too low down without a proper role hurt them, given that Suman performed well last year.

Dropping VVS, Gibbs is no big deal - they were not performing anyways.

Smith is too inconsistent. So, playing Marsh ahead of Smith is good. I think Marsh was played ahead of Harris because he can bat too, otherwise, with Harris, batting becomes too weak. I guess one option is to play Harris and include Venu Rao instead to strengthen batting.

I agree.

I was baffled at why Suman was not batting No 3 from the very beginning after the way he performed for them last year. They even played Anirudh S ahead of Suman in the batting order !!!

They should have Vaas + Harris and an Indian bat (maybe Venu) in place of Marsh. Gilly (on reputation + being skipper) + Symonds + Harris + Vaas is their best foreign player combination.

This would be my line up

Gilly
Mohnish
Suman
Rohit
Symonds
Venu Rao
Sumanth
Harris
Vaas
RPS / Rahul Sharma
Ojha
