Dhoni, Harbhajan Are Now Business Partners

Team India captain Mahender Singh Dhoni and bowler Harbhajan Singh are now partners in business. They have jointly purchased office space in Mumbai for Rs 23 crores, reports Mumbai Mirror.

Two days prior the one-day match against Australia (which was washed out) Dhoni and Bhajji werespotted at a property registration office at the Old Custom House, Fort, for registering a property the two cricketers had purchased together at Lower Parel, the Mirror report says.

They were at the office of G J Bhambale, sub-registrar, Mumbai division, where they had gone to register their Lower Parel property. The two have bought off the entire eighth floor of Trade World Building

As per information provided, Dhoni, 28, and Harbhajan, 29, have bought an office space measuring 14,160 square feet on the eighth floor of Trade World Building on Senapati Bapat Marg.

The building houses corporate offices of different companies. However, details of this new venture weren’t clear.

Sources say the office space – which comes with parking space for 10 vehicles – has cost the two a little over Rs 23 crore. As per ready-reckoner rates, the property is valued at almost Rs 15 crore.

“It’s a fair deal,” said Anuj Puri, chairman and country head of Jones Lang LaSalle Meghraj, a Mumbai-based property research consultancy. “I would rather say they have got it at a pretty low rate (Rs 14,000 per square foot), given that the market rate for commercial property in the said location should be in the range of Rs 16,000.”

Dhoni and Bhajji (as Harbhajan is fondly called by his teammates) signed all the necessary papers on November 9, and paid Rs 1 crore as stamp duty. This is the first time they have bought property in Mumbai.

The cricketers bought the property from Bandra resident Nita Ravindra Lad.

Confirming the news, Harbhajan Singh told Mirror via sms, “Yes, we’ve bought property at Lower Parel in Mumbai.”

The joint sub-registrar, Mumbai division, in whose presence the two signed the property documents, G J Bhambale, was all praise for the two.

“They are very polite. They sat here patiently and did the paperwork, even during rush hour, and were very co-operative. They smiled at people who gathered here to see them and even shook hands with some fans,” he added.

Dhoni and Bhajji are not only good friends on the field, but also off it. Even though the spinner hasn’t been in his best form in the past year or so, Dhoni has always backed him. This deal will, no doubt, take their relationship to a different level. [LOL]

For all TV channels, you had to refer only to India TV?! :
There is a viewers' thumb-rule: If it is India TV, you are either jobless...or a house-wife...or you believe in conspiracy theories. :icon_jokercolor:

So where is the bcci rule that if you are a team india player - you are not supposed to purchase property with a team mate ?

it is sad that people  question Dhoni's integrity even after being a world class team player and a team man

Harbhajan 350 not out!
- Under-pressure offie responds with a devastating spell
LOKENDRA PRATAP SAHI

Calcutta: Just when some with big influence within the Board were actually wondering whether Harbhajan Singh had lost it totally, Test cricket’s second-most successful off-spinner (350 dismissals) responded with a bag of wickets, at the Eden, on Sunday afternoon.

Harbhajan’s second spell, after tea, accounted for all three of his victims — the most prized, of course, being Jacques Kallis. It reduced South Africa to their knees and, within eight deliveries, Harbhajan probably silenced the doubting Thomases.

Kallis fell on the slog-sweep, while Ashwell Prince (who can’t get runs at any number) and Jean-Paul Duminy couldn’t get bat to ball.

Harbhajan, in fact, was on a hat-trick at the very ground where he created history, against Australia, nine years ago.

The in-superb-form Hashim Amla should also have been a Harbhajan wicket, but V.V.S. Laxman dropped a sitter.

Harbhajan, who used the bounce to his advantage and didn’t overdo anything, justified the respect given to him by his captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, on the eve of the Test.

Speaking on Saturday, Dhoni said: “The bowlers have off days... It can happen to anyone, but your best (spinner) remains the best... Everyone knows who’s the best...”

Coach Gary Kirsten, who faced Harbhajan during the time he turned out for South Africa, was as emphatic in praising his lead spinner.

“Harbhajan bowled very well in Nagpur (actually Jamtha) as well... One should try and look at the way he’s bowling, rather than look at the end result... He bowled very well (in the first Test), but the South Africans also played him very well... His rhythm has got better and we do know he’s a strike bowler...”

Surely, a huge confidence booster that.

Honest in admitting that there “definitely” is pressure at the highest level, Harbhajan appeared pretty relaxed in the lead up to the face-off at the Eden.

Indeed, when asked by The Telegraph if the ‘attack’ on him by certain quarters was a source of bother, Harbhajan replied: “Woh apna kaam kar rahe hain, I’ll do mine.”

He did, on Sunday.

Actually, there’s nothing like winning overseas: Harbhajan
- A TELEGRAPH EXCLUSIVE
- India’s 1st hat-trick man in Tests on his most special matches
LOKENDRA PRATAP SAHI

Calcutta: It was at Eden Gardens, nine years ago, that Harbhajan Singh became India’s first (Irfan Pathan is the only other) to record a Test hat-trick. The other day, the 29-year-old veteran of 83 Tests spoke to The Telegraph and listed his most memorable matches.

The following are excerpts

Match No.1

India vs Australia, at Eden Gardens, in March 2001: The most special for a number of reasons... My hat-trick, the massive partnership between (V.V.S.) Laxman and Rahul (Dravid), our stupendous win after being made to follow on... It was an incredible performance, ending Australia’s winning run of 16 matches... At one stage, having conceded a lead of 274, it seemed the Test would get over in three-and-a-half days, but it went the distance and we won by a huge margin ... Pehle baar dekha cricket aisi bhi ho sakti hai... Most special for me from the point of view of my career and very special for Indian cricket as well... That Test and series will be remembered as a turning point... Made us believe we can pull it off from any situation... I can’t forget the emotional crowd either... It’s quite something to be cheered by 85,000-90,000 fans...

Result: India won by 171 runs.

Captain: Sourav Ganguly.

MoM: V.V.S.Laxman.

Match No.2

India vs Australia, at the Chepauk, in March 2001: This Test began just three days after the one at the Eden and the momentum was with us... However, with so much at stake, one knew the Australians under Steve (Waugh) would leave no stone unturned... Thanks to Almighty, I took 15 wickets and helped in our winning that match and the series... It went down to the wire, as expected, and I remember those last few minutes... With only a few runs remaining, I’d been nervous taking guard... Thankfully, I played the ball in the point region and got the winning runs... That brought the curtains down on an exceptional series and I got the MoS award... All the more reason why I won’t forget that series, which saw my comeback.

Result: India won by two wickets.

Captain: Sourav Ganguly.

MoM: Harbhajan Singh and Matthew Hayden.

Match No.3

India vs the West Indies, at Sabina Park, in June-July 2006: I have fond memories of my fiver (five for 13) in the first innings... I was hit for two fours, otherwise my figures would’ve read five for five! Getting (Dwayne) Bravo for a duck, caught by Yuvi (Yuvraj Singh), is something I remember instantly... Winning that Test gave us the series, so is somewhat of a landmark in our cricket history... Actually, there’s nothing like winning overseas.

Result: India won by 49 runs.

Captain: Rahul Dravid.

MoM: Rahul Dravid.

Match No.4

India vs England, at the Chepauk, in December 2008: It was quite an amazing Test as England dominated for the first three-and-a-half days, but still lost... I didn’t make a major contribution, but Sachin (Tendulkar) got a brilliant hundred (103 not out) and Yuvi posted a very fine 85, on the last day... Their partnership helped us turn the tables on England... It didn’t matter that the wicket had become dual paced... We’d been set a target of close to 400, but still won big... Of course, Viru (Virender Sehwag) set it up with a blistering 80-odd.

Result: India won by six wickets.

Captain: Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

MoM: Virender Sehwag.

Match No.5

India vs England, at Headingley, in August 2002: Despite conditions being overcast and the possibility of the ball doing quite a bit, Sourav (Ganguly) chose to bat and the batters responded superbly... Sachin got a great 193, Rahul 148 and Sourav himself got 128... (Opener) Sanjay Bangar, I remember, made a crucial 68... We totalled over 600 and the pressure was on England... Anilbhai (Anil Kumble) finished with seven wickets... In fact, all of us bowlers made some contribution...

Result: India won by an innings and 46 runs.

Captain: Sourav Ganguly.

MoM: Rahul Dravid.

Special Mention

India vs Australia, at the Waca Ground, in January 2008: I didn’t play there, but that didn’t stop me from feeling as if I’d won that Test single-handedly... To win in Perth was absolutely awesome... I felt so proud and remember running on to the field with the Tricolour... The Australian media had suggested we would be bounced out at the Waca, but we won with a day to spare.

Result: India won by 72 runs.

Captain: Anil Kumble.

MoM: Irfan Pathan.

His top three Test cricketers

Sachin, Anilbhai, Brian Lara...

Finally, on the ideal Test wicket

(Laughs) Like the one we had at the CCI, against Sri Lanka (last December)... Even on the last day, there was something in it for everybody.
