Champions League T20
« on: October 02, 2009, 12:33:42 PM »
India are out of the  Champions trophy and it is time for the Champions League T20 . Here are the groupings:
Group A:
Deccan Chargers
Trinidad & Tobago

Somerset

Group B:
NSW
Sussex

Eagles

Group C:

Bangalore
Otago
Cape Cobras

Group D:

DD
Victoria

Wayamba

I think Group C and D are very tough when compared to A and B . Otago have Brendon McCullum , Craig Cumming , Ia Butler in their ranks whereas the Cobras have  Gibbs , JP Duminy and Langelveldt . Fortunately we have the right talent in the form of more localites and just 5 foriegners which will make our team selection easier.

Group D  is very tough as well with Victoria having Hodge, David Hussey , Siddle , Katich , Clark in their ranks whereas wayamba have Maharoof , Mendis and Jayawardene in their ranks . Hence competition will be tough in these 2 groups and I expect the winner to emerge from these 2 groups.

BEST OF LUCK , RCB

On another note just heard a dinner is being hosted as we speak at the ITC Grand Kakatiya in Hyderabad in the lead up to the Champions league.   All the bigs wigs are there.    VVS, Gilly, Symmo all eating and having fun at this second.   Got a call right from the floor of the party from my brother and my best buddy who is there and having a grand time mingling with all the stars there and he will very well be part of this.  Wish I was there.

Yes, I think US Weekly can use some celebrity spottings.

this sounds like a sexy tournament. i think if enough interest (or money) can be garnered, teams around the world will really have something to play for in the calendar, giving franchise cricket that push it needs.

ipl generally run a good tournament so it should be quite appealing. plus there are SO many big name players...in most of the teams.
cant wait. im thinking of going for the last 2-3 days

quick survey of the other teams' key players:

Otago: mccullum, dimitri mascarenhas, ian butler, nate mccullum, aaron redmond

Sussex:
dwayne smith, yasir arafat, piyush chawla, ed joyce, luke wright

T&T:
dwayne bravo, ravi rampaul, ramdin, lendl simmons

wayamba:
jayawardene, maharoof, herath, mendis

cobras:
duminy, gibbs, philander, zondeki, langeveldt

new south wales:
katich, hauritz, hughes, lee, warner, clark

victoria:
cameron white, harwood, hodge, d hussey, siddle

that is a good lineup for a 12 team tournament.

KIC:-No problem.  I think it can be arranged and taken care of.   Give me some advanced notice.

SF and Finals are in Hyderabad.

I have a picture here of my desktop.   A .jpg file.

What is the easiest way to get uploaded here?

There is an option to attach files when you post under the "additional options" tab.

There is an option to attach files when you post under the "additional options" tab.
But the issue there is there is a 1MB limit and 500KB on individual files.

The .jpg I have is 2.1MB.

Any image editor should be able to help you .
Considering you have baisc instalaltions- open mspaint(paintbrush)
Image->stretch/skew. Put 50 in each. save it. This will get you less then half. similarly you can also lose some resloultion and shrink images.

I tried the method suggested by 12th_man.

RIGHT Click at the attachment and select open link to view the picture fully.

Gilly has his hands on my brother and the other person in the picture is the one who pretty much runs te DC team on a daily basis and a close associate of my brother.

I will post few things my brother shared while he was in that dinner which was players only and a few close friends affair in ITC Grand Kakatiya after the promotional event was done.   VVS was there, so was Symmo and Lehmann and yes Symmo was having beer.

Cool.

I think it will be interesting to see whether Gilly is able to deliver once again with the bat. He has been away from competitive cricket for long. Even Warne was not as effective in IPL-2 as he was in IPL-1 (though he'll still cherish SRT's wicket). The smart franchisees are those who will start monetizing the value of some of their stars before they fade out.

Andrew Symonds goes through the fitness drills along with Jaskaran Singh Bhuttar during a training session at the Rajiv *hi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on Monday.

Chargers have a field day
October 6th, 2009
By Our Correspondent

Hyderabad
Oct. 5: The weather gods obliged Deccan Chargers captain Adam Gilchrist, a day after he showed his concern over the untimely rains in the city as the Bulls went all out on the second day of their practice session at the Rajiv *hi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal on Monday.
Gilchrist began the session with a pep talk to his boys before they began their warm-up with a jog. The Chargers were then divided into four groups with each taking turns for close-catching, fielding drills, long-catching and throwing sessions. The group consisting of Gilchrist, Arjun Yadav, Ravi Teja and Azhar Bilakhia were at ease in the throwing department — managing to hit the stumps on more occasions than one.

Local lads Shoaib Maqsusi, Tirumalsetti Suman and Abhinav looked agile and involved on the field, as did Harmeet Singh. However, it was Andrew Symonds who stole the show with his fitness and appeared to be enjoying himself on the field. His throws were on target and he did not spill a single catch.Fidel Edwards did exceptionally well in the throwing department. But the sparse crowd reserved their biggest applause for Gilly. Everytime the wicketkeeper-batsman hit the stumps, the crowd cheered the Aussie.

Whilst team coach Darren Lehmann gave close catching practice to the boys, assistant coach Kanwaljit Singh was given the task of giving skiers to the Bulls brigade. The first part of the session ended with the entire team along with the support staff getting into a huddle. The players appeared confident and super-fit for the big battle that awaits them.

The second part of the session saw Azhar, Venugopal Rao and Gilly padded up for a few hits. The Chargers’ captain looked rusty to start with but soon found the middle of the willow and played some copybook cover-drives that would have made any purist proud.

Kanwaljit confirmed that the Bulls will receive a big boost once R.P. Singh, Pragyan Ojha and Rohit Sharma join them in a day or two. “All are fit and it will be great to have them back,” he said.
The Chargers open their Champions League campaign with a practice game against Otago Volts on Tuesday. The side from New Zealand took field in the afternoon session. The mongoose bat (a smaller and powerful bat which came in use since the English county cricket early this year) made its way into the middle and was used by players to give catching practice to their players.

One can expect the Chargers to come hard at their rivals when they clash on Tuesday with both sides looking fit and hungry, this match promises to be a cracker of a contest.
