Can we restart the Hall of Fame?
« on: September 04, 2009, 12:31:35 PM »

Three years ago Dextrous had started a thread that petered out.

http://www.cricketvoice.com/cricketforum2/index.php/topic,7072.0.html

Since we have been talking a lot about the history of Indian cricket, we could get back into this now, before the cricket season begins in earnest. Besides, a "Hall of Fame" with well written articles on the cricketers will give the DG a better net visibility. I want people of the cricketing world to reach "Cricketvoice" when they google CK Nayudu.

Here is what I propose:

1. A person has to write a report on a cricketer and offer a yes/no poll as to whether the said cricketer deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.

2. Others, keeping the highest standards of excellence in mind, will vote yes or no.

3. The report (edited further if need be) along with photographs, stats etc. gets transferred to a Hall of Fame section in the DG.

Please motivate yourself to do this. Pay homage to your favorite cricketers. I know that many members of this DG can write well, including those who think they cannot. Many think that they are too lazy or too occupied to dig up stats etc., but readily do so when they are pushed to a corner while defending a sporting idol.

There could be an editorial board of sorts to offer any logistical help if need be. I offer my services. So should others like kban, Rams, KoP, Dex, Pfsr, Colonel...etc.

Nice points CLR. A couple of queries.
1. Would this be an India specific Hall of Fame?
2. Should it be a Modern Hall of Fame ?

It does not have to be India specific, but an Indian Hall of Fame could be a nice start Broadbat.

Good idea, CLR. I'll post one on Monday, since it is the long weekend. I'll pick someone who is on the borderline to make the debate more interesting.
