Panesar ready for England call



Panesar bowled Australian captain Ricky Ponting in the 1st Ashes Test

Northant's Monty Panesar says he is ready for the fifth Ashes Test if called upon by the selectors.The spinner took a wicket and helped to secure a dramatic draw for England in a last-wicket stand with James Anderson in the First Test at Cardiff.

Panesar told BBC Radio Northampton: "If the opportunity comes, I'm ready to perform and do well for England.

"It's important to get the right team, as it's a must win-game. It'd be a big thing to be involved."

The final Ashes Test gets underway at the Oval on 20 August, with the series poised at 1-1.
