Another Sania stalker arrestedJuly 10th, 2009

July 9: Just a day after a youth from Kochi, Mohammed Ashraf, was arrested for stalking tennis star Sania Mirza, another admirer turned up at her residence on Thursday to meet her and “express his love.”
Ajay Singh Yadav, a 20-year-old engineering student form Uttar Pradesh, wanted to meet Sania at her Filmnagar residence and hand over the letters he had lovingly
written in “poetic” Hindi.
However, before he was able to do so, the Banjara Hills police personnel, posted outside Sania's residence, took him into custody for “creating nuisance”. They found some letters addressed to Sania, a cellphone and some train tickets with Ajay.
Sania’s highly publicised betrothal is scheduled to take place at Hotel Taj Krishna on Friday evening. A native of Itawa, Ajay had come all the way from Greater Noida where he is studying at the Dronacharya College of Engineering. Unlike Ashraf, Ajay sought just a meeting with Sania.
“Ajay Singh claims he met Sania’s mother in the morning and sought her permission to attend the engagement on Friday. However, his request was turned down,” said Mr Iqbal Siddiqui, the Banjara Hills police inspector.
“I first saw Sania’s photo nine years ago and fell in love with her,” said Ajay Singh, who claims to have played cricket for UP in the under-13 team. “Since then I have been writing letters to her. I also received some acknowledgements from her.” Ajay was in Hyderabad in 2007 and underwent some training at Gachibowli stadium. The young man also claimed that he had conveyed his best wishes to Shohrab, Sania’s fiancé.
Ajay said he has been staying at Asian Lodge near Nampally Dargah for almost a month and has been tracking all the developments in Sania’s life. However he had never made any attempt to meet her or visit her residence. “I heard she was in Hyderabad. So I wanted to meet her and wish her good luck,” Ajay said.
The city police, however, has booked a case under Section 509 of the IPC (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).
