I remember discussing this chap with a few folks on the DG chat..

Here's another piece of his brilliant writing. This guy is witty and a good writer..

skirting his skills and asking him to smile vacantly at everyone. This is what Bollywood, bred on a diet of melodramatic histrionics, calls 'subtle'

Decently written review of a patently bad film, meant for the hypothetical urban youth who prefer to know India through a Hollywood rendition of Gunga Din; and the even more hypothetical 'crossover' audience that supposedly laps up every bit of Indian exotica they can lay their hands upon. I'm wondering, who's worse — Jag Mundhra or Pankuj Parashar.

Just decided — PP it is. JM at least delivers us some regular titilation.

Oh yea, who can forget JM and his Shannon Tweed, Maryam D-Abo flicks some of  whihc are produced by our own Ashok Amritraj!!

On Raja's reviewing style, agree - it is for a different (and potentially, hypothetica - as you say) audience...but gotta give it to him  on his witty style. I like reading his stuff - whether or not they make sense or appeal to me (they do - most of the time) ..they always put a smile on my face.

This guy has grown on me-I used to hate his writing with a passion but if you read him the way he is supposed to be read one can get a sense that he is incisive understands the language of the movies. He is one of those rare reviewers who does not spout what the production company wants.
