Come September! Uthappa over the moon!
« on: April 05, 2006, 07:58:49 PM »
Say what you may, I still believe our Indian team misses Dada like never before! No, I don't mean that includes Chappel and More. Lets see, what More does after September 2006 and hope Dada maintains his cricket form till then. Nimbus head, Harish Thawani, an old Saurav friend thinks he has a great career waiting as a commentator. He will touch the same heights, but Dada as usual is non-commital and rightly so. They say, he is unwanted because of his 'attitude problem'. But I see it is not 'his' attitude problem but rather, More/GC's! Captain Dravid remains an enigma as ever. Recently, he pre-conditioned with a TV channel not to be asked anything on Saurav, if they want him to be interviewed. Goes to show the shadows in these minds! It is a big relief to think back that atleast Saurav did not succumb to regional favoritism! In the meanwhile Robin Uthappa is over the moon with joy and why not! He deserves to be happy. Tennis was his first love but thanks to his school coach Gulam Sandana, he took the right decision to take the cricket -plunge. So said Robin just before taking the plunge for GC's swimming pool session. Not to mention, his father Venu was a national level hockey player. Atheletism runs in his genes. Uthappa, who first made headlines in the 2003-04 U-19 Asia Cup (Lahore), has grown up idolising Sachin Tendulkar. In more recent years, he has been a “big fan” of Matthew Hayden — “I like the way Hayden dominates the bowlers... He’s different from the rest.”
Yuvraj is another happy man, after his match-winning hundred. “That’s because I don’t get to score many hundreds!” was Yuvraj Singh’s response when asked what made him so demonstrative after reaching three-figures in Monday’s ODI against England in Margao

Yuvi used to bat at #6, #7 when he started and complained abt lack of "opportunities" to make 100's.
These days he is batting high up the order, and with openers failing, he has "as many opportunities" as he wants to make 100's. So, he shud not say "I dont get to" score 100's...Its upto him to score 100s now with his #3, #4 batting slots.
