The Delhi Quandry
« on: May 03, 2009, 01:16:23 AM »
kaqren to kya karen.

Put yourself in She-wag's shoes .... no dont go running for a parantha. Thats not what we meant.

Once the useless Shewag comes back and takes over the opening role again. What happens to Warner? The man scores a pretty good 50 on debut ... and despite doing a ganguly by not winning the game for the team he did enough to keep himself in the team.

Now, Dilshan (not because he has a Dil in his name for Dilli) and AB have earned enough to be in the team. They have made their position secure.

Nannes has kept Wrath out ... and dare I say has justified his spot.

Vettori despite having a couple of ordinary games ... has done a good job. He is the best T20 bowler in the world ... and should not be kept out ... specially in games where spinners are holding their own.

so with just 4 positions open and Shewag back ... what do you do?

Warner, AB, Dilli ki shan, Nanni, Vettori and Wrath are all vying for a spot.

Who do you not play?

with the way gambhir is playing(today's dismissal was a tough one), it is better to take warner and drop vettori..

sehwag to daniel: "vetttrrrry toooday you are not in team"

tough but the 4 intl player limitation bites. delhi NEEDS a good opening partnership - neither sehwag or gambhir have delivered (in full 20 over matches)

either that or drop one of devil or dilshan. but that's harsh considering both of them have won delhi most of their matches

maybe delhi's team could be:

viroo
warner
gauti (numberrrr 1 according to viroo)
dilshan/devil
kkd
manhas
farveez
mishra
nehra
salvi/sangwan/yomahesh
vettrrry

leave out Vettori and ABDe for next game. play McGrath, Warner, Dilshan, Nannes. Vettori is more effective in pitches not assisting anyone.

IMO, with McGrath and Nannes in the bowling lineup, DD is tough to beat.

It is tough but I guess Vettori has to sit out because DD has batting problems more than anything else. If GG and VS run into form, Vettori can come back in place of one of Warner / Devil. Dilshan stays because he can be a handy bowler as well.

I would agree with DD. won;t bring in Mcgratch just for the heck of it.
This would be my preferred Line up

VS,
Warner,
GG,
Dilshan,
Devil,
Karthik
Manhas/Salvi/Yomi
Naani,
Sangwan,
Mishra,
Nehra,
