Ajmal reported for suspect action

Ajmal had taken three wickets in the series so far

Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal could face sanctions after being reported by match officials because of a suspected illegal action against Australia.

Ajmal, 31, was reported to the International Cricket Council after Pakistan's six-wicket defeat in Friday's second one-dayer in Dubai.

Umpires Asad Rauf and Billy Bowden said they had concerns over Ajmal's action and had monitored it in two ODI games.

As a result they have requested the ICC to review his action.

He will now have to undergo an independent analysis of his action by a member of the ICC panel of human movement specialists, appointed in consultation with the Pakistan Cricket Board.

If his action remains suspect during the analysis, he faces a ban and will have to remedy his action.

Ajmal - who was first called up to the national squad for the Asian squad in 2008 - had taken three wickets in total in the series so far for a cost of 56 runs.

Australia and Pakistan are tied 1-1 with the third match due to be played in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
