Mumbai team: (from)
*NM Kulkarni, +VR Samant, SO Kukreja, UR Malvi, BJ Thakkar,
SP Hazare, RP Verma, WA Mota, VA Indulkar, NS Shetty, RR Powar,
AA Muzumdar, OJ Khanvilkar, HS Shinde.

Uttar Pradesh team: (from)
Jyoti P Yadav, *M Kaif, SK Raina, +Amir Khan, Piyush Chawla,
P Kumar, AW Zaidi, SJ Srivastava, R Mishra, R Prakash,
Ravikant Shukla, P Gupta, R Shamshad, GK Pandey.

Interesting to see what M Kaif, Raina and Chawla will do - all are India material.
From Mumbai, Indulkar is highly rated. Powar could be in the reckoning too.

Mumbai batting has been shaky off late. Ghavri has asked for Jaffer to be released (crazy but not something impossible)..if Piyush and P.Kumar spin a web around Amol Mazumdar and Indulkar, the rest should be easy for UP but somehow Mumbai has the knack of winning in big matches. That culture comes from their experience in local leagues and a general level of confidence.

Talking of UP Players - here is a very nice article about 34 year old Ashish Winston Zaidi.
http://cricket.expressindia.com/fulliestory.php?content_id=86243
Some of the points in this article is very true. I definitely remember Zaidi's potential some 15 years ago but what is a sad fact is - if you were outside the main Ranji teams like Mumbai, Delhi - u are really up against the odds - in those days. Things have changed a lot now and doing away with the teams playing within the zone has done wonders too..giving exposure to all.
Sad..really sad to read about Zaidi et al
-------------------
Deliveries: 23184
Runs: 11,653
Total Wickets In First CLass: 374
Best Bowling: 9-45
4 wickets in an innings: 19
Others: Zaidi, who reached to the 200-wicket mark became the first medium pacer and only the third bowler from Uttar Pradesh to achieve the feat.

There is only one difference. Australia is the present tense in world cricket. Mumbai's present is tense.

I hate the Mumbai team - for personal reasons :D :D. So I hope they lose and will be rooting for UP  ;D

however, as gourav pointed out, Mumbai is like Australia, most often than not, they will win.

Hopefully Kaif can prove that he can play a long innings.

Not only is their future tense, as I said earlier, there is no future India hope in the current Mumbai side. UP has Kaif, Raina and Chawla. Lets hope they perform and UP wins.

Main reason is Mumbai kept beating my team TN in either the semis or finals quite a few times in the last decade. So kinda hate them. Another secondary reason is my girl friend is from Mumbai and I enjoy pulling her leg when Mumbai does badly  :D :D

I'm afraid Mumbai's goose is cooked this time around. UP have the lead of 51, and all that needs to be seen is whether they can now beard Mumbai in their own lair with an outright win.

Mumbai  241/8 (85.0 ov)

+VR Samant            not out                                  49      67  8 0

AA Muzumdar           c Srivastava       b Piyush Chawla       86 219 149 11 0
RR Powar              c Amir Khan        b Kumar               41 155 108  6 0

Mumbai lead by 190 runs with 2 wickets remaining. In a five day match, Mumbai seem to have made a royal hash of it. Surely Kaif and Raina will have picked their bones dry by tea tomorrow.
