If SRK asks you to write, would this be 5 or 6?

you're giving him too much credit. one thing is true of all actors--they don't like it when the joke is on them. in this case, he wouldn't have liked his own name to be slung through the mud so many times or would've at least asked for a more flattering nickname.

Exactly what I told WN in the other thread.

This is definitely not a publicity stunt --not when the owner is being made a public spectacle of.

Also, he can only post after the match is over (assuming hes an insider).

No guarantees

I thought of that.. he can be quite self-deprecating in his humor (I mean he has portrayed himself as gayish not only in character but in real life events too.. though I dont think he is gay ..and the topic still has negative connotations in RL in India)

... and also, to make this "even more" believable he is probably giving a free reign to the guys running this marketing thing

His self deprecation with respect to gay is an extremely effective strategy to counter an already ensconed rumor about his orientation.

The context and motivation, IMO, differ significantly from a context where there is no call for self deprecation, especially in terms of endearment which include dildo.

Also, I do not believe he reacts well to criticism to allow such a free reign to his marketers whereby the content is extremely disrespectful to him  --almost no megalomaniacal person does for that matter. See his quote on the other thread to get a glimpse of how he reacts to criticism in general.

Just my thoughts.

Well.. I see your point.

The question is  - is he megalomaniac enough to tolerate (approve) this kind of "disrespect". I dont know.

One thing is true - his team is getting all the attention ;D (there is no such thing as bad publicity in some areas!)

making fun of himself is one thing, taking biting humor from a 3rd party, even an employee, is quite another. just because he ran kkr well last year, does not mean he wants to make a fool of himself. and to what purpose? what's the publicity in this? it is one thing to get the name out there but kkr is not in need of 'getting the brand out there'...the blog entries are making the brand and the people look like total fools. does it make you want to buy a Khan shirt?

I never asked him (I don't think he will have the time to reply), but I am almost sure that AC is not the one. It is just too obvious. He has written a pretty well received book. Hence, people know that he can write and he will be a prime suspect. Besides, look at one of the posts. The man says that he, for an upcoming match, is not in the playing eleven. If it is still Akash, I will be very very impressed as an English Professor. In that case he has floated a red herring to deviate suspicion from himself. One day he will make a very successful writer of detective thrillers.

AC replies to my messages pretty regularly during off season, but not at all when he is playing. Nevertheless, I told him about the DG, so he may be listening in even as we speak.

I read the blog all over again.

This is someone from the outside using the "supposedly internal goings on of a cricket team and/or ipl" as a plot device to write a brilliant, contemporaneous story with well-etched characters (that is being told via the medium of a blog). He says in one of the comments that at some point it will become a book. Which will be a brilliant read, imo

None of the stuff on the blog is purely insider stuff (and it need not be accurate - since he can say the inaccurate stuff was a ruse to hide his identity or he is too low on the totem pole so he will miss some information).

This story could have been developed around any cricket team .. KKR are the best choice for this because they are the most popular, controversial  and have a few interesting characters.

It is clear that he/she is an outsider .. the question is does he/she have "tacit" approval of KKR. I am now thinking maybe not - but not completely ruling it out.

However, it is clear that someone who is in the  media is backing this guy/gal and seeding his buzz - otherwise why would a cricinfo talk about it 2 days into the tournament when it had a handful of comments and followers...clearly, they have played  a huge role in increasing the traffic there - the comments have gone through the roof since CI talked about the blog.

I think the blog will continue uninterrupted with its "fly on the wall", humorous descriptions... I think he doesnt want to become stale and perhaps for this reason is hanging around SA to pick up juicy stuff/hearsays to keep his story going.

Whatever... this is brilliant stuff!!

It could be that SRK gave the job to someone like GB, but gave GB freedom to write what he wants, so can't stop it now. I doubt it though. I will vote for the outsider.

This is Akash Chopra....well almost 90%.
He is doing a very clever job actually.
No, he doesn't want to convince the readers that he is AC......infact, quite the opposite. He is deliberately trying to mask his english with local slangs and some clever usage of internet lingo. Also, he is deliberately trying to broadcast some wrong info, for ex....'the skip may not keep'......'the bangla tiger or the junta tormentor shall get a break', etc......................just to keep the element of doubt going.

I don't think, this is a planned campaign by KKR. They are having enough publicity anyway.

and thats exactly actually why it smells of sharukh's handiwork all the way, the man is a master of the self-deprecating act in marketing - remember the Pepsi 2003 WC commercials or the latest Noika "Sab Jeetenge" ad in the current season

I am voting for #6!!
you're giving him too much credit. one thing is true of all actors--they don't like it when the joke is on them. in this case, he wouldn't have liked his own name to be slung through the mud so many times or would've at least asked for a more flattering nickname.

Exactly what I told WN in the other thread.

This is definitely not a publicity stunt --not when the owner is being made a public spectacle of.

and thats exactly actually why it smells of sharukh's handiwork all the way, the man is a master of the self-deprecating act in marketing - remember the Pepsi 2003 WC commercials or the latest Noika "Sab Jeetenge" ad in the current season

If this is a Red Chillies gimmick...the identity of the blogger may not be difficult to decipher..
I think I have a finger on who it could be  [god]

Thanks CLR.  I think this stuff is too silly for someone who played at the highest level to waste their time on.

The guy whoever is on the blog has no clue on the KKR operations.

He appears to be a Ganguly fan and a copy cat who stole the nick names from various sources.

Just like some of the bloggers he has too much time on hand.

On another note I DO NOT think Akash Chopra has ever visited this DG.

the fact that he reports from the ground should be a give away. You just cant do that when you have a cricket game even if you are on the bench. The teams expect everyone to participate.

Its a fake
