Can score 500 ?

In this case, I am am not sure I follow it
My understanding is:
Pick a number from teamA : lets say  250
Pick another from team B : Lets say  249
Presuming Team A wins  by score 317 to TeamB's 145.
The fantassy team scores winning pts as the predicted team won.

how is this different from working with options like 0 and 1
If you want teamA to win, Select "1" in team "A" and "0" for teamB. or vice-versa.
Not understanding why we have integers till 500 ?

I think you're so confused that you're confusing me now :P

--------------------
Let's take the first match between Australia and South Africa.

Part 1: simple explanation:
If you want to predict an Australian win, you select a higher number for Australia.
If you want to predict a South African win, you select a higher number for South Africa.
In case of a tie, you select equal numbers.

For a correct prediction you get FIVE points (there's a little less than 50% chance of doing so, given that some matches end in a draw)

Part 2:
You're actually selecting the team score Australia scores (that's why there are numbers 1 to 500 as I didn't think any team would score more than 500...for Tests I'll change it to 1 to 1000.) Similarly, you're also selecting the South African score. Now chances of getting this right are not very high (and it isn't supposed to be)--because most points will come from predicting the winner. Any time you guess a team's score accurately you get 10 points for each correct guess.

well technically, 12th man can still pick the prediction as 0 and 1 with 0 being loser and 1 being winner. The prediction will still hold  ;D

that's true...if he doesn't want to take a free gamble ;)

in a T20 match, I think there's a 2/50 chance that the score would be predicted correctly given that most scores will be in the 120-170 range

Ok. The neurons seem to be active now.
But just as suggestion, If you guys think odds of getting a score right are very rare, Why give the team only 10(bonus) pts ? Can make it at least 20. This way they won't be too far ahead from the rest of teams but also get some more points for rare achivement that is tougher than predicting a win or loss.

agreed...if others don't have any objection, let's do this. i think this will help even someone lagging to suddenly catch up

True, exactly the same lines was thinking. No one should feel left out of game till end.
Bottom teams may have technical chances of coming on top and that "Hope" can keep them happy till it is finally over.

I think instead of giving choice of integers for scores you should give range like 101-150, 151-200, 201-250 etc.. or whatever other range you decide. Easier to pick and higher probability og getting it right.

I also think you should have two bets there, one to predict result and second to predict score range.

What say?

there are 4 bets actually...one for winner, two for each team's score, one for both scores together.
range or nearest % would be nice to have but unfortunately IPL is upon us...i'll see if i can alter it before then but too much tinkering can mess the whole thing up.

actually, if there are any php/sql gurus here, please do help. i only have "working knowledge" of these things unfortunately.

two suggestions:

a) instead of exact score can you let the person who got the nearest prediction to the actual score get points? there can be extra bonus points (a high number) for getting the exact score

b) it may be interesting if this can be weighted by amounts bet on it ..so say I am willing to bet 100 runs on an Aussie victory, I should get 100 x 10 pts ...if I get it wrong I lose 100. Ditto for bettigng on the score. Everyone starts with a certain number of runs (or you can make it the money that we seem to earn from all these posts). That would allow for more swings and excitement.
