Why classless?? Who defines what a class is.  It is in poor taste to call out other members who expresses their POV's.  What is class for you may not be class for me.  The people were within rights to call out Tendulkar and company for failing and letting them down which by the way is easily the worst One day International cricket moment in Indian history.

Sorry, abusing a player by calling him a cheat or a thief is very poor form and is a classless comment because its an accusation / slander against someone's character and integrity without proof.

I dont remember who the members in question were, but I do remember that those comments were made, and in fact comments far worse than that were made. So, there is no agenda here in calling anyone out because I dont remember who said what.

And I fail to see why calling that out is in poor taste -- its not as if I am leaking some confidential information. These comments were made by some people in full view of the DG and the comments were in absoltely poor taste -- thats my opinion, and thats not up for debate either.

Actually, as the bumped up thread shows, he was probably not called a cheat or a thief.
This is why I said Rams was confusing comments about his two favourites ... I am sure you will get the 'chor' reference.

Not to say that I agree with the choker comment, or the selfish potrayal ... which some people said. But they are more acceptable than this.

It is relevent since I was refreshing people's memory here and how they felt at the time.  My opinions which have always remained the same post WC and does not need any backing whatsoever.

I disagree about relevance --people say a lot of things when they are angry or emotional and thats what a lot of people were after our exit from WC 07. Reminding them or others of the fact that some such comments were made does not serve any purpose. If anything, its counterproductive to your argument because you are using comments made in anger and in emotion to buttress your point.

If your viewpoint has not changed since then, then thats a different issue altogether and there maybe points in favor or against that. Other people's irrational comments made in anger are certainly not justification points --thats what I was trying to say.

Yes.. but just went for 9.

Rams has it right.. on this ground with this pitch, I would not give much credence to anyone's batting.

SRT was scratchy today till his first 70 runs and then blossomed.

As I suspected, NZ may chase this score. Mi*s are going for 6 on this ground

Thats on the evidence of 1 thread. Do you seriously believe there was one thread where players including SRt was pilloried ?

There were 30+ such threads, I remember quite well the abuses hurled.

Well I still find it hard to believe that there would be 'cheater' or a 'chor'  ...  I mean what would be the context? but yes ... there were insinuations about his selfishness, and how he should retire immediately that could have gotten low.

I agree, thats why playing in NZ is as boring as playing in SL -these pitches are good but grounds and conditions are bizarre to say the least..

No wonder Kiwi players are quite awful away from home conditions...

"Yuvraj Singh to Ryder, OUT, run out, excellent fielding by Raina, finally redeems himself, worked away just wide of him at midwicket, he covers good ground running to his left and returns an accurate throw to Dhoni who takes off the bails to find McCullum short of his ground, he's out by miles and India, at last, get a breakthrough"

I thought Dhoni and Pathan dropped catches. Why is Raina 'redeeming' himself?

No you win and lose as a team.  I never was the one to blame Tendulkar alone but thought he should have retired at the time and still thinks he plays for the records.  On that account I am criticising him.  If you have one CB series win to bank I can show the many times he let the team down when the Bevan's of the world and our own Dhoni outshone him in such situations.  He is not a difference maker in my view and post WC he has nothing to offer that will drastically alter the teams fortunes that already has Sehwag, ZK, YS, MSD, HS who all played 124 plus games and can easily carry the team forward.  A Tendulkar's spot can thus go to a Kohli or a Rohit IMO who has many years ahead of them.  If you do not try them, how will we know.  Why is it always one has to sing praises of Tendulkar.  Let me have my say as the rest are allowed to.

No. A player is in the team as long as he is performing. And Sachin has been performing very consistently since WC2007 to deserve a spot. And Sachin won us CB series post WC2007 which could not have been possible if Raina/Kohli had been playing instead of Sachin. This is eough evidence in itself that he should not have retired from ODIs post-WC2007.

Assuming you are not second guessing my integrity here:

Well, thats exactly the point -- that its hard to believe with a sane mind.

But that was the depth of the abuse and vitriol spread against SRt and a few others. And that was just the beginning --far worse abuses and slangs were heaped on these players. You are free to check out the threads from that time to refresh your memory.
