If Aus. wins this series somehow there is no clearcut No1. Aussies will still be in the mix along with SA and India. Even a so called weak Aussie team is good enough to beat SA in SA against their best line up in years. Goes on to show how high Australian's have raised the bar to their own detriment when judging them.

I don't think it is much of a surprise. After the superstars (Langer/Hayden, Warne, McGrath, Gilchrist) moved on, in tests, they became more vulnerable and less consistent but over the long run they still can take out anyone -- only less predictably.
However in ODIs, I think their win percentage has plummeted because the other teams have caught up in being as good and using the vagaries of the ODI game (toss, conditions etc. which mattermore than in tests) to their advantage.
