Well if only the academy had heard and learned to appreciate ARR's best work! But Jai ho!
Agree.. not HIS best work..but it is also about having the right platform.

Lesson: not enough to do good work, you need to be able to showcase it!!

I agree.. I like O Saaya too. MIA is awesome.

..but ARR deserves it, that is what I care fore.

What a dream year+ for him.. Jodhaa Akbar, Jaane Tu, SDM and Delhi 6. This guy is amazing.

btw, Jai Ho was originally composed for Delhi 6, but then finally used for SDM ;)

What was that abt choice of Hate and Love? not sur ei got it. Was he pointing to being a Muslim ?
I think so.. but this is good. his inclinations are more towards sufism - a very moderate form of Islam

I feel for Mickey.. what a comeback. this would have been an icing on the cake.

Well, Sean Penn .. It was an OK performance...not as great. Hollywood's gay/liberal leanings are showing here.

Sean Penn deserves it...and the academy has effed him over so many times....although you have to wonder why care about oscars if you (and others) have been effed over so many times.

Great Stuff. SDM pretty much swept the show. Except for Sound Editing it took everthing else it was nominated for, and AR had to beat only himself!

we'll have to disagree...anyone who can make himself so identical to a real-life character in body and mind, mannerisms and gait...and then deliver in a good movie...is not hamming it.

i am the biggest wrestling enthusiast on this site, i just did NOT feel it with mickey rourke. yes, he did a good job, but i didnt feel for him. he left me asking "so what"

i think langella would be 2nd of the five nominees.

and then deliver in a good movie.
I thought the movie was ordinary.. they tried to do too much of "*hi" in the movie.

Come on, this guy was a city councillor .. for god's sake. The dramatization of the significance of what he achieved was way overboard.

I get that.. but the attempt to portray it at the level of *hi-esque achievements undermined the movie for me.  I wished they had kept the movie at  a more even keel. I kept feeling throughout the movie that the moviemakers want me to believe that something really huge was happening with this guy.. come on, what is so ENORMOUSLY great about a gay guy winning the election for a city councillor from a predominantly gay neighborhood in SFO. Yes,he broke barriers...but to aggrandize it to such heights was manufacturing EXTRAORDINARY greatness when there was none.

I have nothing against gays (who cares what a person screws in his bedroom ;D) .. i think the movie was overrated.. and Rourke performed extraordinarily well.

I agree. It is as much Indian as "Elizabeth" was English, though directed by Shekhar Kapoor.
