I think 300+, we'll have to fight. Pitch changing color very rapidly.

I'll be very interested in watching Yuvi v/s Monty & Swann on this pitch!

On another note, it is on pitches such as these that the Veeru factor becomes so important. He can really terrorise opposing captains in a low scoring match!!

Look at the positive, a match winning innings in the second knock or retirement. At least we will get an answer. ;)

in terms of tv coverage, i think one of the most valuable additions would be to dedicate a corner of the screen to a map of the field showing where the fielders are. it would add so much to the viewing experience.
and you can make it translucent so it doesnt impede your view.

if they can have it in pathetic excuses for video games i dont understand why they cant have it in a multibillion dollar industry

marginal. looked out on first view (which makes it a fair enough decision IMO), though on replays it may have hit him outside off, and may have turned and bounced a tad too much.

lakhan GONE

AND SACHIN GONE!!!!!!
Can't believe Sachin and Laxman threw their wickets away.

There is no excuse for set batsman to get out in such a tame fashion.  They should be criticised for this.

And for VVS it is time to come up good against England against whom he has been average.  It are innings like this he will have to rue later when he gets out to good balls.  Never ever give away your wicket in Test cricket when you are in form and set.

..and bye bye to this test especially since it is going to take spin big way on day 4 and 5. Cue another collapse in the second innings.
another thought : has Mumbai incident distracted even the cricket fans here also ? hardly any comments on this test

At this stage Irfan Pathan and Yuvraj Singh have similar records as a bastman in Test cricket.

A pathetic shot from Veeru trying to cut that ball !!!

A pathetic no shot by Gambhir !!!

Dravid got a marginal decision but had a nightmarish stay at the crease !!

VVS and SRT threw away their wickets to soft dismissals after getting set - inexcusable !!

Freddie just ragged the pretender and exposed him completely !!

So, while the pitch is not a flat tarck and has something in it for spinners, IMO, batters threw away their wickets today.

So, this test match is interestingly poised - If Zak, Bhajji, and MSD can somehow get to 225-250, we could have a great and tight test match.... looking forward to watch great two days at Chepauk stadium live  ::cheers:: ::cheers:: ::cheers::

Hmm.. The same young team with some stalwarts like VVS,SRT,RD  ;D
I could not watch India batting last night, RD should take rest for some time if he does not feel like retireing. With  Badri on bench, Time for some pragmatic choices, in stead getting hung on on traditional methodolgies. The guts MSD had shown with SG and YS, I hope continues with RD.

More than that there is no reason why he is not demoted in batting order once he is selected. MSD has to take responsibility for this.

Not in the first inngs.  I don't know if in the first test against Eng you want VVSL ( who did not play ODIS) to come at number3. Also first wicket did fall early. RD strenght is to stick it out in these situations, play straight and take your time. If he is missing what he does best in tests, time for introspection. Even in inngs2 I doubt he will be demoted down. My concern was not his wicket, but reading the comments about his stay at wicket. I did not watch him thus am building on what Kennedy wrote.

oh man ! not just missed ! missed desperately ! in a similar situation against australia in bangalore - 4 down for 90 ganguly stayed there and took the score to 232/7 before he got out ... helping us save that test.

today 4/90 and see where we are.

I think one innings is not the gauging factor to say one way or the other if a player is missed.  However I surely would have fancied the chances with SG in the lineup based on how he played since his comeback.
