Flintoff probably has a reputation as a batsmen that is bigger than his actual accomplishments in Odi's He averages only 33 in 119 innings. Shows lack of consistency.

Yuvraj's average is also not that great broadbat. They both are somewhat affected by batting lower in the order. I think now, they both will get to bat higher up. Of course you can quote Dhoni and Bevan as counterexamples.

Kapil Dev's ODI batting average is only 23.79!

Agreed, but he has very few hundreds for a man who is supposed to be a good bat. Nothing to stop him from batting up the order but I think Eng realize that he can not do with the bat what Yuvraj is now doing for example. However with the ball he is something else.

Flintoff has been a bit all over the place

year 1999  7 6 16.66 75.75
year 2000  6 5 27.60 93.87
year 2001  3 3 12.00 49.31
year 2002  18 17 24.81 95.89
year 2003  12 12 32.70 82.16
year 2004  13 12 62.70 102.78
year 2005  15 13 37.58  78.16
year 2006  7 7 14.57 67.54
year 2007  19 17 21.40 80.04
year 2008  9 7 60.20 110.25

England will be hoping for something similar to what has happened with Sehwag ..a poor ODI player who has improved significantly of late.

Well now I think Sehwag should be given a break from Game No 5 and then return to lead in Games 6 & 7 while Dhoni takes a break.
