Advani promises Telangana

November 13, 2008

Vote us to power at the Centre, we will create a separate Telangana in 100 days ". T :o >:(hat was what Advani promised at a huge Bharatiya Janata Party rally in Hyderabad.

Speaking at a huge gathering at the Parade Ground as part of his nationwide Vijay Sankalp Yatra, Advani urged the people of Andhra Pradesh to cast each and every vote in favour of the BJP and the National Democratic Alliance to ensure the formation of Telangana state.

"The BJP will keep its word and fulfil the promise of the formation of the Telangana state," he said, adding that he will move the bill in Parliament with in hundred days of taking the reigns of power.

At the same time Advani wanted the people of the state to make the Congress party accountable for its failure in fulfilling the promise of Telangana made in the 2004 elections. "They sought vote in the name of Telangana, but betrayed. The people of Telangana are never going to forget this betrayal," he said.

If the leader of the opposition - the person with a good shot at becoming the next PM - has to pose with a friggin' pink striped bow and arrow - "Ram Rajya" stuff, and has a garland bigger than half the people on stage, then what does that say of the country?

This breaking down into more and more states is really stupid ...purely political.

Every party does it somewhere or the other!

As long as idiots like these are around even a bad government looks great, family or otherwise. This guy is not even a shadow of Vajpayee.

the eternal misfortune of India is that we don't give chance to talented, visionary people at the right time. Look how long it took Vajpayee to become PM and contribute something. All his dynamic years were spent in the wilderness.

Look at USA, Obama with his vision and inclusive message got a chance now. Will he be as dynamic and energetic & positive in his 70s?

This is a different agument altogether. The reason vajpayee didnt get his chance is partially due to our system of government --parliamentary. This is applicable when you compare his chances to someone like Obama's.

I used Vajpayee only to indicate one wasted talent. The reason for why we don't give chances for right people in their prime is because of lack of internal democracy in political parties. None, absolutely no party has robust internal democracy in India and that is the main reason why talent gets wasted in India, all these talented people learn to scheme, conspire over the years to rise to the top and when they do rise to thetop, they lose their young idealism, energy and postive outlook, what we get are simply statesmen and nothing much.

Vajpayee  was always prominent and well respected much before Babri masjid. Remember , Nehru actually prophesied in parliament that Vajpayee will one day become PM of India, unfortunately, he got his chance very very late. The party that Vajpayee  helped to create and nurture was not so communal and hate filled as it is today.
