ENG Warmp-up ODI match : Live updates?
« on: March 24, 2006, 08:10:22 AM »
I believe this match is being telecast live in India? No coverage on the net, though. Not even scores. Would someone following it in India please keep updating the rest of us poor junta here?

Yes you're right!!!...just checked schedule at cricinfo and it says 25th http://usa.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/2005-06/ENG_IN_IND/ENG_IN_IND_FEB-APR2006_SCHEDULE.html

While I was confused while reading this report at BBC which mentions Friday

the 3-day warm-up match at baroda was telecast on DD sports. I don't think it'll be different this time around.

chetan: You missed out the news, then. Sahar One was in news for specifically buying the rights for this match from RCA for some millions.

According to Le Chatelier:

Thats a big amount for a single match...I wonder why our media outlets don't want to harness the money from the domestic games then. After all, most of the domestic games also have a star name or two associated with it. Which is what they are hoping to exploit even in this case.

Ahh well...its a business idea begging to be exploited...

wow! 1 crore for a 1-day warm up game? so that's about about 8 hours of broadcast (7 hrs of playing time plus an hour of lunch/pre-game/post-game stuff). that's about Rs. 20,000 per minute -- for a warm-up game!! how do the economics on these things work???

i guess its coz all domestic matches cannot be played on weekends ... and just for one odd star, it is unlikely that ppl leave work behind and stay glued to their tv sets ... maybe a highlights package could work .. or a premier ODI tournament played only over weekends ... as in, the challengers are telecast, aren't they?

besides, if we have cricket every day, over and above the packed international schedule that we already run, i bet divorce rates would go up ... women need the off season at least to drool over the saans bahu parivar types!!
