India vs. Australia 3rd Test @ Delhi Match Thread
« on: October 29, 2008, 03:27:10 AM »
All Right Here we go - hazy Delhi smoggy morning - dunno about on-time start. Awaiting toss/team composition

Pitch does not look bad at all - in fact looks a very flat wicket, no grass, no cracks at all - at least looks great at the outset

Aussies dropped their best bowler (in 2nd test) and are playing with only 10 men (white can neither bat nor bowl) ;)

4.3 Lee to Gambhir, no run, tip-and-run, a Gambhir specialty, just onto the front foot and nudging the ball into the covers and calling Dravid for the sharp single, thats good cricket

tip-and-run?

whom do they tip? the fielders?

tap-and-run sounds more accurate.

there was no attack here - GG tapped the ball close to him and ran. tap-and-run it is.

awrite

i found an acceptable definition!

tip-and-run

 1. an informal way of playing cricket in which the batsman must run after every hit.

Tippy-go', Tippity, Tip-and-run, Tip-hit, Hit and run, Tipsy, Tipneys, One Tip or similar - if the batsman hits the ball he or she must run regardless of the distance or quality of the shot played. This is sometimes varied to two or three chances and the player must run before the second or third ball, respectively. These variant are called two tip and three tip respectively.
