Tigers at home and famed batting lineup
« on: March 22, 2006, 05:23:07 PM »
THe writing was on the wall since we lost the series to Australia at home.  Our famed batting order never clicked since then on good wickets. Even before that We had a drawn series against NZ and barely got away with 1-0 win against Naseer's team four years back.

At home since Wright left and till now its statusquo as far as the tests are concerned. Nothing has changed. Our famed batting lineup is on its last leg and only RD stood among ruins.

SRT/VVSL/VS form dipped due to various factors.  Think the time has come for rebuilding the team.

After the pathetic bowling against Pak GC/RD started looking for fast bowlers and it looks promising. What about our batting?

Our teams current situation looks like 1980's Borders team.

Do you guys think it would be better to take a hit now while rebuilding the team or persist with old horses and maintain the status quo?

I agree. I mentioned the same thing about the similarity witht he Border team of the late 80s. However, what went in favour of Border then was that the selectors back him all the way. The people, who arent a fraction as crazy as us grudging accepted the failures as stepping stones. Rememeber, guys like Steve Waugh and David Boon may never have done well if they were Indians.

There are some similarities between us and current WI team. WI are prone to loose it faster than us. Everybody beat WI lets us see how we fare against them.  Please don't start with WI are the weakest. We are no better.

Inspite of the shortcomings we are lucky to have RD leading the team. There is still some heart to fight in our team and unless batting problems are addressed we are dead in the water.
