The money could be used in a couple of different ways:
(1) hire a full-time staff in India to write articles/fully develop the main page
(2) run ads in the print media, which can be fairly expensive

mod archive = Moderator archive? This would be complaints and other "behind the scene" discussions? And you are charging for access to it. Can some juicy bits be leaked by unknown persons first  ;D

Everything about this is wrong, while I personally dont have a great number of posts but if my posts or anyones posts have made it to mod's archive or what ever else it means to access my own thoughts I will have to pay. Even most newspapers have free access to their archives in e-form at least.

While the site needs to raise money is a given but this surely is not the best of ways.

You may have a better chance of raising money through payments from individuals who do not want the archives released.

actually i will charge atleast a 50% commission on the proceeds (or atleast any proceeds should be released copyright my name and the money collected considered tax deductible donation ). 90% of the mod section my contribution :)
